Seems Bob is thinking along the same lines as everyone else. Bring everybody back and add another draft pick.

Yes, keep the team together as much as possible. Fill some holes with FA's. Position yourself for BPA in the draft.

I feel like we did the keep-everyone-together strategy in 2008 and then in 2010. Just because you had success doesn't mean you will repeat it. I say follow whatever strategy you were going with the last few years. Don't change things up just because you want to repeat 2014.

Follow what strategy the last few years? The last few years of following that strategy was a failure. I think we need to follow the strategy of the 90s which we tried to keep in tact. We don't have to repeat the results of 2014. But my philosophy is if it ain't broken don't fix it. Get the main group back and then focus on our weaknesses such as the defense. Because I would hate us to lose Murray and not have a capable workhorse like him.

That approach wasn't the terrible one. The bad one was not adding the right pieces around that talent.

I agree. We need to keep building like we were 8-8. There are so many breaks that went our way this year that we can't count on next year. We easily could have lost a many of the games we won. We need to just keep building in the same manner we have since Jason Garrett took over the team.

Build through the draft...

The draft gets harder the better the team gets. Now we have to keep the good draft picks we made the last 5 years. Add a couple solid FAs and the draft is not as important.

sorry but i just cannot imagine trusting LEE,Mcclain and Durant to stay healthy, hell they might all get injured in the same game !!.trusting these guys is a huge gamble and not worth taking.I dont mind getting Mcclain back but Durant is just worth it,he has been on IR for the past 2 seasons when we needed him the most,i would take him for vet minimum.

Normally I'm for this but we have a window and I'd lean a bit more, but not too much, into trying to keep the band together. I made a smart remark about following the money but it really is about money and this will be trickle down economics. Romo first, then Dez, then Murray, then closely Ro and Carter. Throw Carr in there as well along with Free and Parnell.

That volume of players and the numbers on those contracts just show how difficult it will be to keep most of it together.

More on topic, I'd like to keep Ro, Durant and Carter to go with Hitchens and Lee. As I've said in a couple of other threads I'd add a draft choice and even a FA if that money doesn't cost us a DT, CB, or edge rusher.

I don't think many injuries are necessarily predictive of another although I understand the frustration. You need six to play those positions and IR just creates add-ons during the year. Tough position to play and stay healthy.

Would you rather have a premier pass rusher like JPP or Greg Hardy, or resign a RB coming off a historic work load?

I say keep as many as the players as you "reasonably" can. This team will sit at home this weekend and watch the Superbowl thinking they should be one of those teams and could beat either of those teams. The fire for next year is there and we are primed for a run.

JPP has health and production issues, Hardy might be in jail and will still cost a ton and Murray is home grown star that just had an incredible season. Hmmmmmm.....I'll stick with Murray and draft a DE.

I'm still in favor of paying for a positional group of:

Rolando McClain
Sean Lee
Bruce Carter
Anthony HItchens
Kyle Wilbers

That is a group with talent, experience, and depth across the linebacker positions. It also provides a depth for packages.

To optimize this group, a top shelf cornerback needs to be added, that would open them door on play within them box area. That would highlight this group greatly.

Go get a cornerback that puts true dominance into a zone that he is in, and that opens the entire area behind the line of scrimmage.

When you keep the same coaches and coordinators running the same system, year to year, the more players you can retain that have a knowledge of the coaches, system and a year of experience under their belts, the easier next year will be. Now injuries play into this, a players no good if hes sitting on the bench.

I'm in favor of bringing as many back as possible if they're worth keeping. Thats the coaches job to know whos who. I'll let them decide.

Not saying you dont sign FA, you need a good one or two signings and a handful of successful draft picks this off season to really sustain an improvement. It all works together continuity and new blood

If I had to bring back one of those guys I think it would be Carter. He's young and has shown flashes of being a great player. I'd also like to bring back McClain. That way if Lee gets hurt again, we can move on from Lee and have a good group of fairly young LBers in McClain, Carter and Hitchens. I'd like to have Durant too but no way I'd lose out on Carter or McClain for Durant.
