News: DMN: Commanders' Ryan Kerrigan: If Tyron Smith gets his cinder-block hands on you, just walk...

I plan on watching the line more than I have this year cause of comments like these. Wish I had 2 tvs for every game-one with broadcast view the other with the all 22.

i'm already saving up to buy another TV for this football season.

last season i saw L knock a TON of players off the screen. now i gotta get a new TV just to see where they land.

Forget the ranking... I just love the commentary..

Larry-Allenesque

WoodysGirl is he better than E Williams was ( obviously before car accident) I hold EW in high regard because he could shut down Reggie White in those NFC title games

I think Collins has more Allen in him then Tyron. I can see it in 4 years Collins lining up and doing the train whistle letting people know the run is behind him

I don't know about that. Larry Allen was highly skilled and powerful. Tyron Smith is highly skilled and powerful. Right now, Collins appears to heavily rely on his physical abilities. He needs a lot of work on his technique and to play smarter. (many of those blowup blocks, he put himself at serious risk) If he starts playing smarter rather than just trying to showboat block everyone, then we can talk.

Larry Allen never over-committed in his blocks. Tyron doesn't over-commit either. Collins does often and people are watching tape on that. I bet next year, someone will make Collins look like a buffoon at least once. Hopefully, he learns from that.

High praise from a couple of Washington players...nice.

If Smith serves about 5 more years at a probowl level.. Ring of Honor candidate

Well it's a bit unfair to compare where Collins is at to where Larry and Tyron were at. Let's remember that Tyron wasn't Tyron his rookie year.

He was pretty damn good his rookie year. His rookie year, he earned the LT position after starting at RT. Granted Free was a part of that equation, but Smith was never a liability in his rookie year. During Collins rookie year, he wasn't even declared "the starter" until week 6 even though he started week 3 due to Leary injury.

As rookies Tyron >>>>> Collins

Well I'm not comparing the players I'm just saying it's not really a fair comparison. It's like comparing Demarcts Ware to Randy Gregory. A career is not defined by a rookie season.

The last time I looked Smith got blasted more than once but he quickly recovers....in general. So does Free although he's not as strong as Smith. Both of them overextend at times esp Smith. By and large though he is difficult to get by and deserves his honors. He's not as accomplished as Allen or Williams were year 3 or 4 though.

Collins is in position to be the fourth Olineman on this team to arguably be the best at his position. Free beard, Martin and Tyrone have proven to be exceptional. If Collins grows on what he did last year, there will be no stopping this offense. Free is a solid RT, but unfortunately, he is not in the same category as the other four. He is good, but the others just overshadow him.

High praise considering he's more than likely a top 10ish RT.

I think Smith, if he had the same level of coaching, could be as great as any T we've ever had. Hard pressed to be better than Larry, who, in my opinion was one of the best ever in NFL history. That said, playing G and T are two vastly different animals.

Tyron is everything he needs to be and more -- perhaps we should clone him and use his double on defense!
