Davis on the move

Free agent tackle Leonard Davis has left Dallas and is on his way to NFC East rival Washington for a visit. He could also visit the New York Giants.

Davis spent the day with the Cowboys, getting a physical, meeting with coaches, but the team could not come to an agreement. In recent years, the Cowboys were able to sign Marco Rivera and Kyle Kosier on their visits.

One snag could have been the money thrown around to linemen like Eric Steinbach ($16 or so million guaranteed from Cleveland) and Derrick Dockery ($17 or so million guaranteed from Buffalo).

That's a lot of cash and while Davis is a former No. 2 overall pick and local kid, he has yet to play in a Pro Bowl. The good news for the Cowboys is that Washington does not have as much cap space and would have to be more creative in getting a deal done. The bad news is that Washington almost always is creative.

With those other options open to him there's a good chance he'll stop back by VR.

I interpret it to say he's on his way to visit the skins and maybe the Giants.

This is the last thing he needs to worry about.

If he's made an offer, he should stick to his guns.

The very last thing he should do is show any sign of weakness as that will be exploited by Davis and his representation.

Believe it or not, this same squeeze was put on him by some of the other free agent signings, like Ferguson for example.

Mister Jones just needs to have a viable backup plan. Always.

If not, that is where you lose any and all leverage.

Good. I wasn't high on Davis anyway, and I damn sure don't want to pay him as if he is some sort of good player.

For $50 million, the Skins or Giants can have him. This is freaking insane, the guy has not played in a single Probowl and he is "touring" like he is a Hall of Famer.

Daniel Synder is going to give him what he wants and then some.

I wish we had Jerry Jones has Daniel Synder money to go out here and get big-time free agents every year.

If Jerry did that we'd suck badly, have no draft picks to look forward to, and be stuck in mediocrity. You really need to learn more about this game than just names.

Exactly!!! Why would anyone want to run their franchise like Lil Danny runs his. That's ridiculous!!!! He spends spends and spends but wins absolutely nothing....

IN the last 4 years which team has been a playoff contender more then the skins? WE have. And its not even really close. They had ONE good year and then went right back into the toilet. We have been to the playoffs twice and just barely missed it once. Even in 2004 we had a shot right up untill the last 2 weeks.

Not to be rude but the Cowboys have been below mediocre for the past decade and currently hold the longest streak of no playoff wins. Maybe Jerry himself needs to review his methods.

Anyways, I hope Davis plane gets re-routed back to Dallas. I will be absolutely hate signing this lazy mofo.

err I think you mean Jimmy Johnson. Jones hasn't done squat without Jimmy drafting him HOF'ers. Where as Snyder, I don't like him, but given time hes improving as a owner. Atleast hes shown signs this season by resigning our own guys and only bringing in proven plays with decent contracts.
