http://cowboysblog.***BANNED-URL***/files/2015/04/scan.jpgOrlando Scandrick underwent surgery Thursday morning to repair a torn ACL/MCL that will force him to miss the season.

The surgery, which the club calls successful, was completed a few hours before the Cowboys brought an end to training camp in Southern California.

Scandrick has been the team’s best cornerback over the past two seasons and is regarded as one of the NFL’s top slot corners. He has made 30 starts over the last two seasons with four interceptions, three sacks and three forced fumbles.

Head coach Jason Garrett was asked Wednesday, before Scandrick returned home for the surgery, about the balance between sympathizing for the player while going about the task of replacing him.

“Orlando is a person who we care a great deal about,’’ Garrett said. “The coaches care about him, his teammates care about him. He’s going through a hard time. That’s challenging for him. We’re going to be there for him. We’re going to be there for him every single day.

About 9 months before he is good to go? I think he can start conditioning around 6 months.

He's already rehabbing and will start working on range of motion fairly soon. Then to leg work. Not sure when they start jogging although all this is dependent on how each patient progresses.

Yea, I meant actual physical activity like running, lifting and drills. Not sure what the prognosis is when doing both the ACL and MCL.

I was surprised when I first heard how quick they start rehab after ACL surgery, but it makes sense. The longer they wait, the more likely they lose some of that range

Has there ever been a press release that said a player's surgery was unsuccessful? ;)

At least he won't be rushed during his rehab. He should be able to participate in May's mini camps but I'll bet we hold him out.
