Yeah they were not sure if Witten was going to be able to go so they put Hannah on the roster just in case.

what's the point of picking him up then?

They didn't want to lose him to free agency in the offseason. All practice squad players are FA at the conclusion of the reg season, so to protect from losing him, they added him to the roster.

I don't know what happened to him. He looked very promising last year, then regressed this year.

i thought he played at the same level as last year. inconcistent.

His blocking was terrible last year. That didn't change. He just managed to have 3 TD catches last year out of sheer happenstance.

He got lucky on a couple plays and we found out what he is really about this year.

With all the injuries at safety, the fact that Courtney Brown is inactive is very telling.

Not to mention that newbie Tra Battle (who is smaller, slower) quickly supplanted him.

so you can't make roster moves during the playoffs?

I'm certainly no expert on this, but I'm pretty sure the practice squad guys are free after the last regular season game whether their team gets into the playoffs, or not.
