Third round pick Chaz Green had hip surgery Wednesday that will likely land him on the physically-unable-to-perform list to open training camp.

The question is whether or not the offensive tackle will spend his inaugural season on the list.

“When we looked at it, rather than take a chance on it being still there and lingering or exacerbating in training camp, we thought go ahead and get it done,’’ owner Jerry Jones said. “It could limit him and will limit him early in training camp, but whether or not he’s a PUP situation for the year or not remains to be seen on his rehab.

“It’s very possible for him to come back and be a part of this team.’’

Green posted a picture of himself from his hospital bed with a Tweet that read: “Little bump in the road but I’m too ready to bounce back stronger than ever!’’

Hard to complain when this franchise drafts trench players, but I never liked this pick. Hope it all works out.

Believe it or not this is actually good news. The way things were looking, I don't think there was much confidence in him being the swing tackle.

Gibson goes to the PS, Green goes to PUP, and believe it or not we probably retain Weems.

Good thing Weems is looking like he came to play this year.

From all reports I've read, they were happy with what he showed when he was practicing. It's just that there was too little of that to see due to this issue.

Gibson goes to the PS, Green goes to PUP, and believe it or not we probably retain Weems.

I think this move greatly increases Gibson's chances of remaining on the 53-man roster. I honestly don't think he would make it to the practice squad if he were released.

It's good to read that Weems is doing well. With these injuries, he's certainly getting his opportunity.

Definitely, considering there are not one (Free), not two (Gibson), but three (Green) options they hoped to have at tackle who are not on the field.
