That's fair. I think you can only predict well enough to give a two game range. However, if you want to make a stab at it then no range is fine.

The last two 8-8 years I picked but I hedged +/- 2yrs which is not going out on a limb albeit reasonably fair. I picked 10-6 last year and was happy to see us at the top of the range.

Predictions can be entertaining but I don't take them seriously.
I didn't mean my post as a slight towards you boss man. it was more directed at the same lame media predictions.

If recent history is any indication, any time we make it into the divisional round, we tend to underachieve the next season...08, 10, 15??

It's really hard to predict...but...

Week 1 vs Giants
- I predict a high scoring game much like the opening game of the '07 season with us ultimately prevailing in the end.

Week 2 @ Philly
- I think Chip Kelly's fancy offense starts off hot and we catch a loss (before we and the rest of the league figure it out) Murray has a big game and the media is immediately jumping down out throats for not resigning him.

Week 3 vs Atlanta - We bounce back after a tough loss but Julio puts up big numbers against our secondary.

Week 4 @ New Orleans - I don't think this is a repeat of last year, but I don't think it's a repeat of the year they dropped 40 first downs on us, either. Jimmy Graham is no longer there, but I think Spiller and Brees get the job done against us in their home stadium.

Week 5 vs New England - Whether Brady plays or not, I honestly believe it doesn't make a very big difference. I don't think our D matches up well against their offense and Gronk will have a big day. Brady will be Brady and if he doesn't play, Garoppolo has his coming out party and the media already starts speculating when he should take the reigns. Loss here.

Week 6 - Bye Week - At this point, we're sitting at 2-3 and the media will talk about how last season was a fluke, how Romo's declining, how much we miss Murray, how much we overpaid for Dez, etc. and basically declare that the wheels have fallen off the Dallas Cowboys wagon and their season is over. We end up taking a tumble in the "power rankings" behind the likes of the Chiefs, Bills, Jets, etc.

Week 7 @ Giants - By this point, the Giants and Beckham are the toast of the NFL and despite some more spectacular catches that will get replayed over and over again, we end up getting the win which will get tossed to the side in favor of Odell Beckham making some nice catches.

Week 8 vs Seattle -
Much like last year, we're playing against a team that no one is really giving us a shot to win. Again, much like last year we come out strong and get a win that makes a lot of media members eat crow.

Week 9 vs Philly - We keep the momentum rolling from the previous week and give Philly a nasty beatdown, the first blowout of the season either way. Chip Kelly's offense has been exposed and their defense won't have any answer for Dez.

Week 10 @ Tampa Bay - Winston and the Bucs can't get anything going, he puts up a gutsy showing but the team can't keep up with us as a whole and we get the win.

Week 11 @ Miami -
Not sure why, I can't give a reason...but I see us losing this one in a wacky manner.

Week 12 vs Carolina (Thanksgiving) -
Newton and Benjamin shine on Turkey Day and give us another defeat.

Week 13 @ Washington - Washington is more of a trainwreck at this point than ever, RG3 has been either benched or injured and we win this one running away to get things back on track.

Week 14 @ Green Bay -
Almost identical to last year's playoff game, except Dez DOES catch this one for the go ahead TD late in the game. However, Rodgers and the Pack lead a last minute drive to take the lead and Rodgers cements himself at the top of the MVP race.

Week 15 vs Jets - Geno somehow puts up a decent game against us with new receiver Brandon Marshall, but it's ultimately not enough as we escape with a close victory.

Week 16 @ Buffalo - Their defense is vastly underrated and I think their defensive line is amongst the best in the league. I think Romo has an ugly game and there isn't a lot of scoring, but I think that we squeak out a W based on their offense playing just slightly worse than ours. McCoy claims that he will still continue to "kill" us, but ends up falling flat on his face for about 40 yards on 17 carries.

Week 17 vs Washington - Commanders are still a mess, and at us sitting at 9-6 with us needing this game to get our way into the playoffs, I think this team comes through and gets the victory, although this time Washington won't make it as easy.

Final prediction, 10-6 and a wild card birth.

He clearly states he thinks the run game will be "Decent".

And if you'd follow the discussion you'd see we've already talked about this. The context in which he used the word "decent" was that the running game would be diminished compared to last years squad. I'm just making the point the running game doesn't have to be as goods as it was last year as long as they consistently move the chains all the way to the end zone.

10-6 is what I think. Last year's schedule wasn't near as tough. Could've easily been 10-6 last year also.

Last year there was a lot of chicken littles about our schedule. IIRC it graded out int he preseason as one of the hardest also. NFC West and AFC south last year were not expected to be "cake walks". Tenn was supposed to be improved, Houston had a bus driver as QB, Ind was the best in the Division, with whipping boy Jax, the team was lucky to go 4-0 there. The NFC west the team was lucky to go 2-2 and could have easily gone 3-1 or 0-4.

I agree I thought the saints and bears would beat us and they sucked. But this year is really tough. I didn't pick 10-6 because it's popular pick. I see 9 possible losses on this schedule so I'm giving dallas the benefit of the doubt. I actually have been thinking 11-5 since hardys suspension has been reduced.

if the cowboys are anything less than 11 and 5 and don't make a deep run in the playoffs with what they have added talent wise then its another wasted opportunity. There wont be many more of them to waste with Romo and his age even if Vaughan is good it will take him some time to get going so its now or maybe never.

What do you mean it was before Murray left? We are talking about something Cowlishaw posted today. It's not a given how the running game will be this season. Cowlishaw made the point without Murray the running game won't be as good. I'm just making the point it doesn't have to be as good as last year as long as they keep moving the chain all the way to the end zone.

I think this is a recap of something that Cowlishaw had written in the past. There was another one of these posted that was written by Gosselin and he was still referring to Hardy being suspended 10 games.

I'm not 100% certain on this one, but the one from Gosselin had to be old.
