David Moore answered your questions in a chat Wednesday. Here are some highlights.
Dealio24 ... Many fans have said that Romo looks fat and out of shape which might be more of the reason he is seen on the treadmill than a cyst removal. Could he have come to camp so out of shape after signing such a huge deal and making such a commitment?
David Moore: I would disagree with those who say that Romo is fat and out of shape. His absence from OTAs has everything to do with the cyst he had removed and nothing to do with poor conditioning on his part.
Dealio24 ... Why the mystery behind who will be calling the plays? What is to be gained by the silence on the matter?
David Moore: I don't get the mystery. I don't see what is to be gained by being silent on the matter at this stage, other than the fact it gives everyone something else to speculate about regarding the Cowboys during the off-season.
Has Kiffin been received as favorably by the Cowboys' defenders as it seems Marinelli has?

Yes he has. Some of the players wondered about him, especially when they heard about his age, but his enthusiasm and passion for the job is infectious. As Anthony Spencer said, Kiffin and former defensive coordinator Rob Ryan are a lot alike in the energy and excitement they bring into the room. It's just that Kiffin uses fewer four-letter words than Ryan.

Is it wrong to see Kiffin as the consultant and Marinelli as the coach, with Kiffin getting the title based on seniority?

I believe that assessment minimizes the impact Kiffing will have on the defense in 2013. But you're onto something. My analogy would be more of the tenured professor who is still on hand for all of the classes but delegates some of the detail work to an associate professor in the department. That being said, Marinelli is an outstanding hire and has proven he can stand on his own as a defensive coordinator in this league. It says a lot about his respect for Kiffin that he agreed to make this move.
