That would assume a rotation at DT3....which we will do, but you usually hope your 1st round pick is the one getting 75%

They would both be on the field in the Nickel which is about 1/3 of the snaps, therefore:

Nickel 1/3

Each gets 1/2 of the remaining 2/3 which equals 1/3.

Each player gets a total of 2/3rds of the snaps (67%).

I guess I would have assumed Melton would get more snaps in year 1. Then again, him coming back from the ACL makes your suggestion more feasible.

One of them could also move out to DE on running downs when they want a big lineup.

I agree with that and then run both inside on the nickel. Now that would be a very strong inside if Melton is back to Pro Bowl form.
