McClain was worthless the first half of the season because of suspension and being so out of shape upon his return. You can expect more of the same this year.
Pretty much how it's always been with a lot of teams. If you have talent, you get away with more.
Garrett can talk about leadership and having the "right kind of guys" on the team... but then you have to back it up and hold people accountable when they undermine the team and culture. You have to practice what you preach if the culture is actually going to be authentic and not just become a collection of bumper sticker sentiments and T shirt slogans...
Signing guys like Hardy and Gregory, and tolerating guys like Ro simply show the real truth behind Garrett's philosophy: If you're talented, it doesn't matter if you're the right kind of guy.

We are incredibly basic on defense... He'll be fine.
Has nothing to do with the complexity of the defense. When you are too out of shape to do your job that doesn't matter.
Who says he is out of shape...he can be in shape for all we know. None of us knows the situation or his conditioning at this point. And no one is in that great of football shape at this point...they haven't even put on pads yet. It's been 5 months since they had pads on.
So you are gonna completely ignore his past history and just assume that he is working hard and getting ready?
we have basically the same guys coming back to the same system. Give me a break
I think Ro reminds me of Marcus Dupree .. 2 country guys who like fishing and home cooking .
I think their hearts were not in football even as good as they are in their respected positions. ...two phenomenal talents though.
It's been said that ro is like engineer smart...he'll be fine.

Players used to use trainincamp to get back into shape.. Not a worry for me.
McClain will have a prototypical McClain season.
Having both Ro and Lee out means nothing during OTA's. If anything it gives all these younger LB's a chance to compete and see what they have.
Ro is Charles Haley 2.0. He hates practice. But when Marinelli turns on the film he is as smart as Sean Lee. That's why we stick with him, well that and the fact he's 6'5 265 and can run sideline to sideline!!
so, nothing the first half and then play better from midseason on?
