Columnist Rick Gosselin answered questions in a chat Thursday. Here are some highlights.

Question: How much of a loss is the Doug Free injury?

Rick Gosselin: It's a huge step down from Free to Parnell. My guess is Jason Witten is going to spend a large portion of his Sunday afternoon helping out as a blocker. The Giants have two former first-round draft picks they can and will run at Parnell, Jason Pierre-Paul and Matthias Kiwanuka. Parnell is going to need some help.

Question: Pretty amazing Jerry has for the most part kept his mouth quiet during this win streak. Over/Under when he says something stupid again?

Rick Gosselin: Always bet the under with Jerry no matter what the number is. When the Cowboys win, the smile broadens and the words come tumbling out...

Question: Team MVP at this point? romo, murray, bailey, mclain, or Oline?

Rick Gosselin: Murray. He's done something only Jim Brown has ever done in NFL history -- six consecutive 100-yard games to start a season. And Brown was a three-time MVP.

Question: How much more improved will the defense be with the additions of Carter, Lawrence and Brent?

Rick Gosselin: Lawrence was drafted to replace DeMarcus Ware as an edge pass rusher. The Dallas pass rush has been suspect to this point. They need to put more pressure on quarterbacks going forward and Lawrence can be the guy who does that. They need him on the field. I see Brent as more of a rotational tackle. Carter has already shown this season he can make plays. He needs to stay healthy. He's giving the Cowboys the pass coverage they had hoped Sean Lee could give them had he stayed healthy.
