Always has to be a Santa Claus reference...Nolan Carroll just isn't very good in reality. He's fine for depth purposes, but there's just no way he should be a starting CB for any team. There will be a rookie drafted to take any hope of him starting away.

He was better than average 2 out of the 3 years he was in Philly after finishing his rookie contract in Miami strong. He struggled in Schwarz's press man scheme last year.

Obviously he is not elite and maybe he has lost a step at age 29 but it is possible that it was just a bad fit for him. Similar to how press corner Carr struggled when he was here.

The disrespect for brown is funny. I haven't seen a corner play as well as him since Newman and people are doubting

I apppaud the moves. It appears we finally understand managing the Cap not overpaying average talent.

Now it's time to see if we can consistently replace this talent in the draft and developing our current talent . This is how teams build it and stay contenders consistently in Cap era .

Our passing defense was afterall ranked 26th. I certainly can't see rewarding those who left with the contracts they received.

I'm one that only see playmakers, and I could care less who they are or where they came from, and Jeff Heath made plays. I'd think about drafting a safety at some point but I'd allow Heath to start all preseason.

He was only a starter for Philly in '15 and '16 and he was below average last year. Don't believe he was a full time starter in Miami the last year he was there either. Plus he has an injury history. Like I said, if he's our 3rd outside CB and 4th overall I'm fine with it. But if he was signed to be penciled in as a starter outside it's a terrible move. Thankfully it's a deep CB draft class so I don't think that will be the case.

And when is the last time he's played in zone like what Rod want to do that everyone is confident he will be such a better fit in by the way? Billy Davis ran a 3-4 with some cover 3 but also played a lot of man while he was in Philly. So we're going all the way back to '13? If that's even true, I have no idea what scheme Miami ran that year.

I think they over stated what the club feels in Brown. No one is pretending like he is a Pro Bowl.

From the playing time and assignments he got last year, no reason not to feel confident in him as one of your top 2 CB's.

right Richard sherman didnt come into the league as the top cb but he did develop into it... keep that arrow going up for Brown

He's been a nickel or starting the entire time. It's not like he was getting less than 50% of snaps in any of those years. With Scandrick and Brown in the fold he's already 3rd on the depth chart.

The Eagles under Davis used to run a lot of zone and try to buzz routes; cover 3 often looks like man coverage outside. Schwarz ran a press man scheme. The Dolphins under Coyle ran a blitzing 4-3 zone scheme. Every team mixes up calls but the bases are what they are.

It'll be interesting to see how they view Heath. We ran a lot of 6 DB sets last year (4 CBs/2 Ss and 3 CBs/3Ss) so Heath will get a lot of snaps regardless if we draft a safety early. I think he's more of a true FS type though, so either we draft a SS and Heath comes in in dime packages, or we play with essentially two FSs with Jones and Heath, or we move Jones back to CB and have Heath take over FS (but then we'd definitely need to draft a SS early). My guess is we'll see if we like any SSs in the draft. If we do, expect Heath to be the dime DB. If not, expect Heath to be the SS.

These are the same folks who booed Santa Clause. They are only happy when they're miserable. I take all their complaints with a Liberty Bell sized grain of salt
I usually think the same but these guys are legit. You can actually talk football intelligently.

guys... Anthony Brown was pretty good last year.

Was he an all pro? No.

But when he went up again all pro Antonio Brown, he actually did a pretty good job.
