When the Cowboys open up practice Wednesday, they will have all of their healthy draft picks under contract.
Third rounder Jason Williams, a linebacker,as a rookie, and Texas A&M quarterback Stephen McGee, a fourth-round pick, agreed to four-year deals Tuesday night. Both players attended the kickoff concert at the Alamodome.
The only rookie not to come to terms yet is third-round pick Robert Brewster, whose rookie season is over after having surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle.
Williams, the Cowboys' first pick (No. 69 overall), is expected to be a special teams' ace as a rookie and work into the substitute defensive packages. At Western Illinois he did not play a traditional linebacker spot, standing over the guard and center. He was disruptive with 14 forced fumbles to go with 289 tackles and 15 sacks. He had a school-record six forced fumbles in 2008.
Because he did not play much as a senior at Texas A&M, many were surprised McGee was picked with the first pick of the fourth round. The Cowboys love his size, arm and make up. A shoulder injury hurt his playing time as a senior, but he left College Station as the Aggies' all-time leader in completion percentage (59.5), second in total offense (7,225 yards), fourth in passing yards (5,475) and third in rushing yards by a quarterback (1,750).
He will have time to learn behind Tony Romo and Jon Kitna as a rookie.
