In all honesty, I'd do it. We will be in much better shape next year cap wise to make FA moves, if this year is a wash (but with the potential of him being the difference maker) so be it.
Since 2016 was an anomaly as far as draft position goes, are you really telling me you wouldn't give up Byron, Gregory and 28 this year for Myles Garrett? Pshhhhh
Man, that would not remotely even get us close to getting him from 28.He'd have to be one hell of a player to give up 2 1st and a 2nd for him. Not worth the risk. Maybe if the defense didn't have so many holes.
I have to admit, the thought of Myles Garrett and a healthy Jaylon Smith being the cornerstones of our defense for a decade is a nice fantasy
But that's all that it is
You'd need to offer way more than what's proposed here btw
Two firsts and a second? Hell no. We're not one player away from winning it all.
I politely disagree, because if we had a "Von Miller" type on our D, it would put us as a contender, no question. Out of Jaylon (if he plays up to hype) and the possibility of Garrett, you may have two players wreaking havoc on defense. Obviously counting on Jaylon being 100% and Myles being actually drafted by us, but I think he could bring us to the dance.
Interesting, most want a pass rusher, but will be against trading what you need to trade to get a potential Hall of Famer at the position for the rest of his career.
Instead we are hoping to get lucky at #28 or later. Not like they are available in free agency anymore, unless you pay big money. Do you want to pay big money or big in draft picks.
We got to stop expecting something for nothing......he even asked to be a Cowboy......goodness.
Do you realize how expensive this guys going to be IF he is as good as everyone thinks he's going to be? For years I've preached that we're better off with a team full of "blue collar guys" that come to work and produce rather than a couple GREAT players on a team with below average players around them. The Pats have one "Garrett" on their team who happens to play QB. After Garrett's rookie contract is up, barring major injuries, he will be unaffordable. Too much to give up for one player. You don't throw your entire draft away for one player. It didn't work for Ditka and it won't work here.....
