The Laufenberg treatise: Promise nothing

Barry Horn E-mail News tips

So I was watching Cowboys Game Day on Channel 11 this morning . Naturally, the subject of the next Cowboys coach came up. And I swear I heard Babe Laufenberg says this:

"I am not a big fan of the coach in waiting...Obviously, Jerry is very high on Jason Garrett as I think he should be but...My thing is hire the best coach for your football team at that time not the guy that you promised the job a year or two years ago."

All I know is Babe considers Garrett one of his close friends. I'll have to ask Babe exactly who he thinks should be the next coach should anything happen with Wade Phillips before the season is done.

Is Horn really that dumb? He meant he wasn't a fan of "coach in waiting", he was not saying he wasn't a fan of Garrett.

Watching BJ play QB today riminded me of babe playing back in he early 90's when I knew there was no chance we could win with him at the helm. Both of these knuckleheads are the worst.......

If our offense doesn't get right in the second half of the season, I don't think Garrett is going to be our HC.

Last week Brad reminded me of that Atlanta playoff game with Babe.

I agree with Babe, you don't hire Coordinators so they can be your Head Coach in a few years.

Jason Garrett should not be coach of the Dallas Cowboys if it is based on a promise by Jerry Jones, but I think he will be Head Coach.

I don't get that.

What isn't right with our offense? Get Romo, Felix and Kosier back on the field and this will look like a completely different offense than what we have seen the last two games. The swagger will return!

I was at the game in Atlanta in '90 when Babe started for an injured Aikman.
One of the most miserable afternoons of my life. Babe was as bad a pro QB that day as I've ever witnessed.

The offense was really starting to struggle when Romo got hurt.
