A confident Cowboys team that expects success will land in Southern California on Tuesday afternoon for training camp.

That’s significant when you consider that recent versions arrived in Oxnard with the bar set no higher than hopeful.

A 12-4 record broke the chains of mediocrity that kept this team at .500 for three consecutive seasons. There’s no guarantee the Cowboys will build on their NFC East title and playoff victory from last season.

But for the first time in five years, coaches and players don’t have to wonder if they have what it takes to be a winning team. They don’t have to speculate on what they can become.

The Cowboys can take pride in who they are.

From everything I've read we are going to hell in a hand basket because we are either going to abandon the running game or it will be so ineffective Romo will set a league record for passing attempts this year. And don't even think about getting me started on our crappy defense.

My expectations are not high at all and think we will be damn lucky to win 2 or 3 games and should start making plans for the 1st pick in the draft next spring

Expectations on Defense have gotten a lot higher. Key is Pass Rush...and

Byron Jones should help a lot.... but why CB? When his range at FS could be a game changer on this Defense.

IMO Jones is going to come in a lot on passing downs when they take out the MLB (nickle), and he is going to play a lot like a safety in those instances.

Hard to believe we have a Pre-Season game in less than 3 weeks. This off-season went by fast!

In the past, it's been fairly predictable that whenever the Dallas fans' expectations are as lofty as they seem to be at the present, bitter disappointment typically follows. I'll hope that isn't the case in 2015. Gotta say, I'm kinda reluctant to resort to a "tap the brakes" wording that usually draws a considerable degree of skepticism.

Maybe we might simply await some extraordinary performances before placing this team high upon a pedestal. If the distant past is any indication, the fall that so often follows such unencumbered delight has been really tough to endure. No need to tap the brakes but let's just await the favorable signs to appear first before getting giddy with delight. No jinx for us this year, OK? Thanks a lot.
