You never go to a meeting or briefing without pen and paper.

I just don't think we have the bullets to win too many games without Romo.

Kitna has not been very good, but part of that is the O-line. If the O-line plays better, and I mean much better, Kitna can lead the team to a few victories. Just about any NFL QB can be successful if he has time to set his feet, go through the progressions, and throw. That's why I don't buy into Tom Brady the way everyone else does. (The line is so good, he has really benefited from protection and time to throw that 5 yard pass to Welker.)


I will try to keep my expectations limited, but I expect us to be in every game, like we were the first five weeks.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I wish Garrett was our head coach going into training camp. I really doubt we would be 1-7 right now.

We'd probably be 7-1. Seriously. I think the only game we would have lost would have been at Washington because of the offensive line. Maybe Green Bay because its hard to win up there when it's cold.

They are basically just switching from shorts to pants. They wear thigh pads under their shorts (if they wear them in the game).

Yeh it's overblown to an extent, but there are immature players on the team who feel self deserving and expect to have it as easy as possible.


Anything to improve the Football Culture at Valley Ranch is a good thing.

Part of me wants to say "it was their break, they can do whatever they want during their breaks", but then a bigger part of me is thinking "this is a professional sports team, and they're playing cards at the facility".

I don't get it.

It's hard to say that Garrett is really that "good" because we haven't seen the product.

But I mean, everything you read about the lackluster effort in practice, no full pads and no real attention to detail makes you wonder how this team ever did anything with such a pathetic mindset leading the way.

Garrett may turn out to be that good. That remains to be seen but holy hell was Wade ever bad.

That's what I was thinking too. This team lacked discipline under Wade Phillips. That much is clearly evident.

What's also interesting is how players say what's expect of them. Here Spencer was among those who said they were playing hard for Wade. now when a new coach comes in, they're all praises over the guy being a hard-nose. Yet when a hard-nose leaves, they're always talking about how it was hard to player under him.

That's why reporters often cover what's said in private compared to what's said in public. Much of football talk in public is just player-speak or coach-speak.

The first hint that the head coach is serious when he talks about structure and accountability didn't come earlier in the day at the 8:15 team meeting.

No, the Cowboys had a pretty good idea on Tuesday's day off that it would not be business as usual at Valley Ranch. That's when several of them received texts to be at the facility on Wednesday by 6:30 a.m. for a 7 o'clock meeting.

I do not know if Jason will succeed or not, but there is no way Dallas is not a better team under Jason than they were under Wade.

What is even more baffling, is that Jerry let this go on for so long. Thanks for wasting four seasons Jerry. Unbelievable.

I agree and in the end what the players are saying means little what they do on the field matters.

I do hope that all these great write ups come true and Garrett gets this team turned around but before we get carried away I would like to see it on the field with the players and the in game adjustments by the HC and his calls throughout the game.

It's not overblown at all.

I played basketball a lot more than football, so I compare it to going through a practice with my shooting shirt on, versus full practice gear.

Mental state - if you're in shorts, you're in "walk-through" mode. When you're in game attire, you know its time for real football practice.

I'm not letting them off the hook, right now at 1-7 I'm not letting anyone off the hook including Garrett.

I know many are happy to see Wade gone given how poor the team has played I can't blame Jerry for pulling the plug but Garrett as OC has a responsbility as well and his unit has failed up to this point.

He is calling the plays and he is the one responsible for making the adjustment for his offense and based on what I have seen thus far it has not been good.

So for me right now all these feel good stories is just that and mean nothing if he does not show up on game day.

I hated the Phillips hire from day one so yes I agree that it was four years wasted...but what REALLY gets me is the last TWO years.

After that 44-6 BS with the playoffs on the line against one of your most hated foes...you let him continue for two more years?!

Jerry hated the fact that the culture in Valley Ranch was like "walking on eggshells" during the Parcells days.

Maybe there's no problem in making your work atmosphere all about work when your organization is flailing.

As I've said before I NEVER wanted Wade. I wanted Garrett as soon as Parcells left. Now I finially got my wish and now I have hope for the furture. I hope Jerry has the sense to keep him after this season and stay out of his way and let him do his thing.

I want to see what changes he will make in the offseason. What coaches will he bring in and who will be let go. Will he make any changes to the defensive scheme and will he bring in an OC. It could get interesting and suddenly I'm interested in what the Cowboys will be doing again.
