NBC's Cris Collinsworth: Eagles' Nick Foles 'going into the lions den' against Cowboys

NBC analyst and former Bengals wide receiver Cris Collinsworth was asked to comment on the Eagles-Cowboys game that the network will air Sunday night. In a statement released by NBC, he seems to believe Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles has something to worry about when he heads to Arlington to play Dallas for the NFC East title.

“The Eagles played about as well as they possibly could have against the Bears," Collinsworth said. "They got the tune-up that they were looking for going in to the showdown against the Cowboys, but we understand what the NFL is all about. You have a young man in Nick Foles who is going in to the lions den now. With close to 100,000 people probably watching this one, it is going to be very emotional. And now you begin to wonder, how is Tony Romo? How is the back? Is he going to be able to play at full speed? Here we go again."

Not much meat here but an interesting thought about Foles being in the spotlight Maybe he'll get unnerved.

Maybe he's got one of them 'uncluttered' minds like Clint Longley. :)

Foles apparently was trying to compare this game to a big high school game he played in..yeah ok.
I know the crowd catches a lot of heat for being quiet sometimes, but that place will be rocking sunday night.

Foles is from Texas. Some reports are that he grew up a Cowboys fan. Hopefully he is star struck on Sunday night.

He played already for the Eagles against the Cowboys at Cowboys Stadium last year (the Cowboys won 38-33.) It's not like this is his first game against the Cowboys in Texas.

The more I think about things the more agitated I get. Nick foles is young and that team just got owned by the Vikings.

Considering the line on this game and all the hype that that horrid franchise is being given has almost made me forget about our horrible defense as a fan.

Who in the heck does that superbowlless team think they are?

Orton or Romo....whatever. I'm ready for Sunday.

I wouldn't exactly call ATT Stadium a lions den or anything close to intimidating. This is not a freezing game in Pitt, on a fast track in NO, at Seattle or on the frozen tundra.

Hopefully, those that attend will be loud but they can be taken out games pretty quick.

Has Foles ever beaten the Cowboys? Seems like we're 3-0 against him.

He is 0-3 against the Cowboys in those three games, yes, but Romo played in all three of those games - and Foles arguably wasn't as good a quarterback back then as he is now.

lol, I came in expecting the "lions den" to be about our defense based on how we did last time, turns out it's just about the circus of the atmosphere - which hasn't exactly been kind to the Cowboys either.

This comment is what interests me the most about this post; "how is Tony Romo? How is the back? Is he going to be able to play at full speed? Here we go again." If you read between the lines, Cris is saying Romo will play, and I have been saying the same all week long, I have a feeling Romo starts this game.

It has the makings of the start to one of the biggest "redemption" stories in sports history.
