Hall of Fame Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach (right) and current quarterback Tony Romo visit onstage during the Dallas Cowboys Kickoff Luncheon held at Cowboys Stadium for the first time, Wednesday, September 1, 2010.

Former Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach recently went on 103.3 KESN-FM ESPN Dallas' Cowlishaw & Mosley Show to discuss the team. Here are some highlights.

On his thoughts on Tony Romo and his impact on the Cowboys:

"I haven't just jumped on the Tony Romo bandwagon. I remember the Thanksgiving day game, I think it was against the Packers, when he first got his chance. You could just see he had these abilities to make plays and he had a good arm, he could move. He had that 13-3 season, too. I've been a Tony fan for a long time. I think he's just a fantastic football player and he's proven also that it's not your physical part on the field, it's the mental part of getting your teammates confident. Just him playing last week, I think the offensive team played better and the defensive team played better. I've always liked Tony as a football player so I'm not surprised at all the great things he's doing last year and this year."

On if the Cowboys still have a chance at the postseason at 3-7:

"I'm excited about the game on Thursday. They're 3-7 and I don't think if someone told me that I'd be really excited about the Cowboys playing Carolina. But they're still in it and at 3-7 their division is helping them stay in it. They're a better team now (with) the health of Dez (Bryant) and Tony. So I think we can beat anybody that we play, it's just can we win six more games in a row?"

Do not post about domestic violence. I realize Roger mentioned it but I don't want this thread turned into that kind of thread, please.

This thread will be about Tony leading us to wins against the Panthers and the rest of the season. You can take any discussion about DV to the Rant Zone. There are plenty of threads there discussing Hardy and DV or start your own.

Thanks.

Sad, Roger is losing his mind.

I agree. We CAN.

Will we? I don't know about that. I've yet to see this team play their game solidly for 60 minutes. Even during our great run last year, most of our wins had some mind numbingly stupid things we did where we shot ourselves in the foot.

Roger always been in Tony's corner from the start IIRC.
Would love to see Roger and some of other former players [but always a Cowboy] out there Thursday watching the game. I am sure they will be.

It's great to be optimistic for Cowboys football again but unfortunately I'd say the chances of winning the division and making the playoffs is a long shot. And if we end up watching the playoffs from the outside looking in, the waste this season turned into is a complete shame. Not being able to win a single game or two is just unacceptable - we had the talent w/o Romo to pull that off. On the other hand, if by some miraculous turn of events we're able to make the post season, that will be NFL Cinderella story for the ages.

Cowboys will defeat Carolina tomorrow. I despise Cam and his disengeuous smile. Reminds me of a used car salesman or an appliance salesman. Tomorrow is the beginning of our playoffs - lose and we are done.

Oh and hit that like button if u like turkey, mash potatoes, cornbread stuffing, jalapeño corn bread, giblet gravy, cream gravy, green bean casserole, yams, spiral honey ham, pecan pie.

I can't stand that smile either, it makes him come off like he is cocky.
I do like him at times as a player, but can't stand his cockiness attitude at times either.
Just make the play and go back to the huddle for the next play. Well, don't make the play this next game.

You despise him because you THINK he has a disingenuous smile? That's weird.

Yes sir and I'm not the only who " thinks" he has a disengeuous smile. ESPN did a show on it last season I believe. Yep, his face looks snarky...comes across as a weasel and a punk. Oh FYI I don't like Shsnnon Sharpes look either, he also has a disengeuous smile. Maybe it's not politically correct, but it is what it is. When I see his face, I don't like it.

In an interview with Hannah Storm on ESPN, Newton was reminded that 14 months ago, draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki called Newton, “Very disingenuous — has a fake smile, comes off as very scripted and has a selfish, me-first makeup.” Newton said he’s not angry about those comments, but he is puzzled about which sources might have told Nawrocki that he has a selfish, me-first makeup, because Newton doesn’t believe that’s something that people who know him would say

Newton has brought up the “fake smile” thing before, and he brought it up again today at the 7-on-7 tournament for youth football players that the Cam Newton Foundation hosts in Charlotte. Newton told the Charlotte Observer that when he spends time around young players, he does so in the hopes that he’ll see he genuinely cares about their development.

ESPN did a show on Cam Newton's smile? I must have missed that, but it's still weird to me for a person to not like another person based on that person's smile.

No doubt that if Dallas plays well, they can beat anyone remaining on the schedule.
The question is can they actually do it the next 6 straight weeks.
Stay tuned!

I think this goes back to his college days and his dad, and comments his dad made about what college he attended. And his demands while he was in college. Like they were entitled to special treatment.
