Cowboys beat writer Rainer Sabin answered questions in a chat Tuesday. Here are some highlights.

Question: In your expert opinion, does Mo Clairborne have the skill set and desire to play in the NFL? Or is he another LSU Jamarcus Russell type?

Rainer Sabin: I think Mo Claiborne has the physical ability but I wonder about his confidence and his mental fortitude. He hasn't been the most resilient player during his time in Dallas.

Question: If the Cowboys pass on Gurley or Gordon in the first round. Is there a running back in that second tier that would fit better with the Cowboys than some others?

Rainer Sabin: I like Ameer Abdullah of Nebraska. He's a versatile player and reports indicate he has high character.

Question: Do you think the Cowboys will restructure Romo's contract this year given how close they came to an SB this year - and Romo's window?

Rainer Sabin: I think there is a strong possibility the Cowboys will restructure Romo's contract. It will give them more financial latitude to deal with the 20 free agents they have -- most notably Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray.

Question: Is there any chance the Cowboys go with a corner in the first round? Seems like everybody is looking d-line, but if Carr doesn't come back there's a huge hole on an already weak unit

Rainer Sabin: I wouldn't completely rule that out, especially if a cornerback is the best player available.

Not sure I like a RB taken in the top rounds although depends on who is available otherwise.

If we draft a RB then i want an all rounder-a guy who can do it all from pass protection to being a goal line back,Ameer abdullah doesn't fit that bill.

I think there are 8-10 RBs that can be had anywhere between the mid 2nd to mid 5th that would be worth taking if they are in the BPA tier at the time of the pick.
That's a big reason why I'm not overly excited about taking a RB in the 1st..

It is one thing to "like" a player. It is another to suggest they would be a good fit. Abdullah couldn't handle the blocking responsibilities we need to replace Murray. Few rookies could.

One thing that Murray did that was so positive is that he had real chemistry with the OL and studied protections with them.

Regular film sessions with Murray and the line at Romo's house from what I've heard.

As my wife would say, "I'm agree". PS: Don't tell her I said this.

Even though our 3rd rounder is late I still think we should go all defense with those first three picks or at least that portion of the draft if we trade down.

This whole RB situation with Murray and the draft can't go away soon enough. It's like being stopped at a railroad crossing for a never ending train.

Telvin Coleman would be just fine in the late 2nd if still there.

Some conference as Gordon
Also ran for > 2000 yards
Also had 7.5 ypc
Is bigger than Gordon and still runs in the 4.4s.

And there are plenty of others that can be had in the 3rd and 4th rounds.

Late round pick maybe

Ameer Abdullah in rnd 3 or 4. Just imagine him behind our huge OL, he would get lost behind those big linemen and then BOOM fake the safety out of his jock and bring it to the house. I really want some explosion from the rb position.

I like Abdullah. Kind of get a Darren Sproles vibe with him. He's dangerous as a runner, receiver, and return man. Reports are that he also has tremendous character & is a tireless worker. The negatives right now are pass pro & ball security.

Several backs in this draft had ball security issues. Then again, Murray had fumbling problems as well. And some of the RB prospects have issues in pass pro as well. I think it was Malcolm Brown of Texas who was among the best at hanging onto the ball. I like him and he'd definitely be among my favorites if going RB later in the draft.

Tevin Coleman was mentioned...and he's been one of my favorites for quite a while. My Dad is an IU alum, so I actually watched a few of their games with him.

This is a pretty good RB class.
