Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo yells at players coming on the bench during the first half against the Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium Sunday, November 22, 2015 in Miami Gardens, Fla. (G.J. McCarthy/The Dallas Morning News)

Cowboys special contributor Bob Sturm held a chat on Monday. Here are some highlights from the interview.

Does it concern you that they got dominated by the Eagles on a short week last year?

Absolutely. That was a very disappointing day. In fact, they have been plowed on Thanksgiving Day a little too often in recent years. Remember the RG3 show in 2012? They need to reclaim this game as a place where they look ready to play. 2012 and 2014, they didn't even get it to halftime competitively.

What's your favorite memory from Cowboy football on Thanksgiving day?

I was always a fan of 2006 Thanksgiving against Tampa Bay when Romo threw 5 TD passes in his first Thanksgiving.

I wrote the following paragraph that day: "5 Touchdown passes! And we all know he could have had 6 or 7 had his coach allowed him to throw a pass in the final 25 minutes of the game. Tony Romo is a guy who Darth Vader would say: 'The Force is strong in this one'. That's right. He is a Jedi. I spent last week saying he was special, but that doesn't sum up his 5 games as the Cowboys starter. But, he is a QB Jedi. And no, I am no longer overreacting." -- Bob's Blog - Live from Lewisville: Cowboys 38, Bucs 10 (7-4)

Haha. I have always been a Romo guy.

Biggest concern going into this week is the Romo. He took a pretty good beating on Sunday. If he is not effective we don't stand a chance, just like last year. I think we are the better team but Romo has to be Romo.

If Romo, on average, takes the physical punishment he did against Miami on a weekly basis, I doubt he makes it to the end of season.

The OL needs to up their pass blocking game -- especially with Romo back there who tends to hold as long as humanly possible.

Its all Romo. This entire team and franchise is Romo..... most of these people lose their jobs, become journeymen, or are out of the NFL , without Romo!

I hope his health holds up. He is taking some hits. Some late..............................!!

Unless Romo is saor or cant go, I think we get a good effort this Turkey Day. Carolina, look strong .....but I think we can do things and , at least, keep up with them into the 4th...

I think the beatdown last year by Philly was a result of Romo's weekly routine being changed. His back was still not right, and he didn't take a pain injection before the game and it was clear he was off.

This year-- although he may still need to knock some rust off, he claims his back is the best it's been in 2 years and there's no setback thus far on his clavicle. I think he steps up on Thurs. Both defenses can play ball, and I think this one is a slugfest with Romo leading his team to gutting out another must win victory.

The Cowboys' defense is different compared to last year Thanksgiving because Eagles big plays came from the Cowboys playing zone coverage.

Big disappointment seeing how many defenders got to Romo last week. The offensive line needs to take that personally.

That 2012 beat down got me in trouble at the game because I was yelling, "ACT LIKE YOU KNOW HOW TO ******* PLAY FOOTBALL!!!"

Last year they straight up played like a football team from the down-syndrome school for the blind.

Really? Using Down Syndrome (with blindness thrown in as a cherry on top) as an insult? Guess we can rule you out as a parent of a special needs child.

Sure it concerns me also but the big difference was playing an away night game and then a home Thursday day game.

They was criminally unfair to the Cowboys and fortunately it was corrected this year.

agreed. When I saw that schedule last year, i knew the t-giving game was going to be a huge problem. They scheduled Philly playing at home to Tenn at 1:00. They had us playing at SNF game at the Giants. Clearly unfair last season.

was he not romo? he gets hit alot because he holds on to the ball too long. thats who he is, it amazes me that people still dont get this about him.

There was more to it than that. His mobility was not there, his throws didn't have the same zip because he couldn't rotate completely. Every one knows that he tries to make plays and at times it leads to him being hit. That is not what that is referring to. Its about him being healthy enough to be effective, which he wasn't last Thanksgiving due to the short week.

Wasn't just Romo. The defense looked like they were napping for the first few drives.

Yah-- good point lol. Hopefully they get some of their swagger back and Hardy plays like the Kracken against his former team.

 That's some darn fine journalism by Babe right there. What does last year have to do with this year? Last year I was 10lbs lighter.

That game was due to his back not having enough time to heal after a game which is why they put him on the Wednesday day off schedule. This year he has been consistently working on his back while he was out and says he's far enough removed from his surgery where it's not that big of a concern as long as he stays on top of it.

I expect a fully mobile and loose Romo on Thursday.

I hope so. Just the pounding he took Sunday has me worried is all.
