The staff might tend to retain Green to see what he can do throughout camp but it certainly wouldn't surprise anyone to see them acquire a low-cost vet and/or a draftee to backup or man the RT spot as well. Free will be another year older and can't hang on there forever. Here's hoping DT Maliek Collins and DE Charles Tapper both return healthy and ready to contribute.

It should also prove interesting to see what Jonathan Cooper can do to backup the LG spot as well during camp. La'el Collins will likely return healthy during TC and return to LG as our ongoint starter. Anthony Brown will return to action as our most pleasant surprise last season with another TC under his belt and should benefit from the added experience.

Collins. I think Brown is being overhyped. The worst two plays of the year that I can remember involved Brown. 1. When he was roasted against Minny on the bomb and

2. the pass interferance call vs GB when Heath had an INT.

Brown did well for a rookie and we might have something there but the hype is overblown.

PFF had Collins as the worst defensive tackle this past year. Just watching the games, Collins was our best defensive lineman for most of the year. Does that speak to how awful our defensive line was or how awful PFF is? I'm hoping for the latter.

Who was in their top 5 DT rankings? Did it jive or no

That's not correct although 5-7 is longer odds for sure. I posted some stuff on positions and bust and start data awhile back. You should be able to find that.

There are HoF at every position picked after the 5th round. We've been analyzing hit rate around these parts for a decade. I don't think we disagree in principle.

There are some anomalies but as a general rule of thumb the probability of success at any position decreases logarithmically the later you draft.

I wouldn't hype Brown but he does have something. There were several games early in the season where teams targeted him and he made enough plays that they stopped doing it. Just the fact that he held his own as a rookie shows that is going to be a solid player going forward.

No. You fail to understand the position. Your expectations aren't based in reality.

-If a cornerback loses a battle with a receiver...it can be 10 yards or 80 yard gain.
-If a d-lineman misses an assignment almost always someone else makes the tackle.

Add to this the reality that in 60% of pass plays in the NFL today...the receivers win the battle!

Here's one:

After you get past the success rates of the first two rounds (64% in the first, 46% in the second), there isn't a huge difference in success (24% - 3rd, 11% - 4th, 17% - 5th, 8% - 6th, 11% - 7th)

DBs provide the best success potential in the 7th round versus other positions in that round.

That's still a reasonable chance of success drafting a DB in the 4-7 rd as you can see. There's a reason for this IMO. There are players who don't either stand out in college or at the combine who still are effective DBs when given the chance.

There is no other position with success like DBs in the lower rounds.
