News: DMN: Top 5 players the Cowboys regret passing on in 2014 draft

Our 14 draft doesn't look so good now. Martin was a great pick. Dlaw has been kind of a disappointment so far and hitchens was a ghost last season.

What? Dude led our team in sacks in his second season, went on a tear during the final half of the season. Hitchens was a "ghost" because we had Sean Lee and Rolando McClain.

Martin is a pro bowler, Lawrence took a huge step in the right direction and looks to be a great pass rusher for us. If you find two quality starters and a good depth player in one draft, that's a successful draft.

I guess I just expected more out of him. Gave up 2 picks for him and he's only had about 4-5 good games so far. The whole dl was a let down this year. They need to invest in FA de's and dt's this offseason.

I think we need to move on from mcclain also.

So in other words....none of these are truly regrets other than Hurns and Carr? Call me crazy but I think we have something in Lawrence. I feel much better having him here then not.

The only one recently that comes to mind is Seahawks, and that wasn't the norm.

Right. And that's the same team that traded 1st rounders for Jimmy Graham and Percy Harvin that didn't pan out and they haven't even had a 1st round pick in THREE years. But the last few years they had picks they drafted Bruce Irvin, Russel Okung, Aaron Curry and Earl Thomas. Earl Thomas has proven to be one of the best safeties in the league and the rest are either out of the league or marginal to decent players.

I hate the what if game but man Carr would have been a great 2nd round pickup.

not really , Carr came roght out of college to starting, and he was ok at first, but playing full time has made him a decent QB.

Had we drafted Carr, he would have gone stale on the bench, and probably not much better than Moore was, when suddenly having to start.

Don't be surprised if Hitchens is our starting MLB next season.

Well we don't know for sure what would have happened if the Cowboys would have drafted him, not even you ;)

Also just cause he might have been "stale" doesn't mean he wouldn't be a good candidate going forward to replace Romo...

Anthony hitchens had a great 2014 season. 2015 wasn't that great but he will turn it around..
