UCLA defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa is a projected late first-round pick that also has an interview scheduled with the Cowboys.

“Talked to them a lot at the Senior Bowl,” Odighizuwa said.

Although he’s projected to be more of a 3-4 outside linebacker at the pro level, Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley has already met with the Cowboys this week. “I really like them,” he said.

Eddie Goldman is regarded as one of the top defensive tackles in this draft class and a likely first round pick. However, he is a Commanders fan. Would he have a problem playing for the rival Cowboys?

“I don’t really care,” Goldman said. “I’ll put that rivalry aside and do what I have to do.”

Asked for the NFL player he compares to most, Goldman said Jay Ratliff — when Ratliff played in Dallas. The former Cowboy and current Chicago Bear is also the reason Goldman wore No. 90 at Florida State.

Why Ratliff?

“He’s hard-nosed,” Goldman said. “He’s so physical. I believe one time he was mic’d up in a game and one thing he kept saying is ‘They aren’t going to win the physical part of the game.’ That’s a thing I try to pride myself on, is being physical.

“He came up in big moments, too. That’s one thing I noticed about him. He’d get sacks in tight fourth-quarter games, that stood out to me.”

Speaking of former Cowboys defensive linemen, Florida defensive end Dante Fowler mentioned being a fan of DeMarcus Ware when he wore No. 94 for the blue and silver.

“He was really good at putting his hand in the dirt and playing (linebacker),” said Fowler, who planned on meeting with the Cowboys while in Indy. “That’s why I like to do both.”

Fowler is projected by many to be a top 20 pick.

I think they learned from the Claiborne ordeal that they need to check out all 1st rounders even if they don't think they will be available.

They didn't interview Claiborne prior to that draft and it turned out that he is mentally weak. The trade up was a last minute decision that was initiated by the Rams.

Bingo. Everything they put Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and Zack Martin through... all of the interviews etc that they got information from... they didn't have that information with Claiborne. Very ill-advised.

These guys will likely be gone by 27 but some might get pretty close (Dupree for instance), and if Dallas likes someone enough, going up a few spots isn't going to be prohibitive cost-wise.

Never knew that but it makes sense now

Yes, by all accounts that I've seen the Rams called and talked directly to Jerry. The Cowboys didn't plan to move up but the Rams were requesting less than normal to move up that far. The trade happened and the Cowboys had not really investigated Claiborne's mental makeup.

After that and then the Floyd ordeal, Ciscowski was demoted and Will McClay was put in charge of the draft board.

Beasley would be a better version at SAM then Wilber.

And Odighizuwa meeting with the team doesnt suprise me. They were at the UCLA games scouting him this yr.

Best move they could have made was putting McClay in charge

Beasley couldn't play DE for us?? He would be a waste at SAM imo.

NO Lawrence had size problems. Once the OT got a hold of him he was gone from the play.

thats what i said,he needs to use his hands well to keep them off him.it was really unfortunate he broke his foot because those reps against Tyron would have helped him.
