So we finally have made a major signing in an area of need.

But from what I am reading..

it seems his skills are rather like Dez.

HiPoint the ball..

quick slants..

no real speed..

This is strange somewhat.

It is certainly an upgrade over Terrence who probably is about to be cut.

But this does not address our lack of vertical speed.

This also means Ridley is out in the draft.

Too bad.

No doubt this helps Dez and Witten..

This is aalot of money for a #2 WR.

Help me out with your thoughts.

If Ridley is there stil a possibility and dez can still save his career in Dallas. Depends on the coaching staff mostly

Thompson is the speed guy. Hurns does run better routes and is more natural in both the slot and on the outside. Part of the predictability of the offense run in Dallas is the personnel groupings. When Beasley is on the field he is always in the slot and Dez and Williams are on the outside. With both Thompson and Hurns and Dez to a degree you can put these guys anywhere. Thompson is not a smurf, he is listed at 6ft so, maybe the offense will be less predictable with these guys at receiver.

Dez and Hurns are going to be a great duo.

Dez needs competition ........ he strives on it ..... and none of our current guys even come close to him.

Those two together does make for a nasty combo. Ive been down on Dez as well, but the hate has gone too far.

They both wear 88....makes you wonder doesn't it?

Physically very similar.

However, Hurns is a much more cerebral guy who understands options routes from multiple receiver positions.

Dez is more physically talented, but at this point, the difference is probably fairly negligible.

Cerebral.

Good adjective.

No..

DEZ ain't what you would call cerebral.

We'll see.

Dez has not paired well with other WRs.

He wants the ball exclusively.

Not sure this will sit well.

The analysis of Hurns coming out of college by NFL.com seems pretty accurate:

Strengths
Good length and competitive speed. Runs hard after the catch. Adjusted well to frequent errant throws.

Weaknesses
Narrow-framed and non-physical. Struggles to separate against tight man coverage. Lacks polish and precision in his routes. Average burst out of his breaks. Is not a burner -- limited long speed. Soft blocker.
