Back in the days of film in the late sixties and early seventies, cursing was still an issue. So Hollywood, wanting to pave a path and bring realism to their films wanted to drop F-bombs but could not.

So they substituted.

Remember the film "The Dirty Dozen?" Hollywood supplanted the F-bomb with the word "lovers."

In the film you will hear Richard Jaekel say something about the motherlovers. Tassos Bravos, who was one of two Hispanics in the film is remembered when they were crossing over the hill that was being shelled in the war games and when sliding to a stop at the feet of Charles Bronson, he was asked.

"What took you so long?"

His reply:

"Hey boy....them lovers were trying to kill us."

So in lieu of this word being used by the anchor post, the history of the word lovers in film, and considering the definition of same. I take back being offended by being called a hater.

Tee it up all you want, you lovers.
