"That was the most physical football team we have played all year"

"They are a very good football team"

"We are fortunate to have won the game"

This is what Mike Shannahan had to say after the game, and he knows he was fortunate.

And I am sure everyone knows what Parcells said after the game, and you could tell he did not like the loss, but he really liked the effort of this team. He knows we are good enough to beat the best teams in the league, and I sensed he was proud of this team, and like he said you do not go through this thing without a couple of bumps in the road.

Living here in Denver, and being a die hard Cowboy fan trust me I do not like the loss, and will hear about it for a while, but you know what? I learned a lot about this team yesterday. Denver is a very good football team, I knew that. I thought Dallas was, and now I know.

That was 2 Heavy Weight Contenders going toe to toe slugging it out in a classic. The difference was going to be very little in regards to who won.
They got one more play than we did, and we all know we should have won that game. Sorry Billy, but in a game like that you can not miss that kick, just can't.

Regardless folks this team has come a long way, and we can contend this year. It will be tough, but do not doubt we are contenders in the NFC. We can play with anybody IMO, and I fear no team in this league playing the Cowboys.

I am going on record right now, that we finish 11-5. We will lose one more game, not sure which one, but that is it. I see this team winning the NFC East, and after next week we will Control the Division.

AND one more thing!

Next year you can bet your bottom dollar we will be LEGITIMATE Contenders to WIN THE SUPER BOWL.

We will be even better with so many young guys going into their 2nd,3rd, and 4th years. A QB in the second year of this system and finally some stability, and you can bet Jerry Jones and Bill Parcells can smell it and will not hold back to strengthen this O-Line, get that FS, and a clutch FG kicker.

FOLKS BE PROUD TO BE A COWBOY FAN! And for you youngsters do not take this time for granted. Enjoy it and remember it because your are watching a team be built and growing into something many of us have seen and enjoyed before, but often took it for granted. :starspin

11-5 should be good enough to get us a bye week and 1 home game. We are good enough to contend right now. The only problem is our kickers kill us in key spots. Cortez missed against washington and seattle, billy missed yesterday. we lose all of those games by 3 or less. We should be 10-1, 8-3 at worst right now but the kicking game....

i do agree that next year we will be even better and should be a favorite in the NFC

Dude, I almost never just write a one sentece response saying, "good post". Seems like post count padding and basically, uneccessary.

But this time I'm going to. You expressed my feelings precisely and said just what I've been thinking since the game.

Champheart... good post, bro.

I also agree. I think this Dallas team is for real. I do wish that some of the bounces had gone our way, and they still may eventually. In the meantime, this team is right in the middle of things. I feel good about the Cowboys and what they can do in the future.

I've wanted to post something like that myself for a while. One day a while from now we are going to look back on this team and players like Witten, Roy, Flo, LA, Dat, etc. just as we now remember Novacek, Woodson, Moose, Irvin, etc. Not only do we have a team filled with talented players, but for the first time in a while they are all genuinely good guys, team players, and the right mix of young guns and seasoned vets. Its crushing to lose all these close games but I'll take this over the blowouts of last year any day of the week. This team will do something special and instead of always focusing on what could have been with all these heartbreakers, sometimes you gotta sit back and try to enjoy the ride.

Well said, Champsheart, especially the part about appreciating this team. In this topsy-turvy NFL, and especially as bad as we've been most of the last five or six years, we should be grateful for having a team in contention. And it's a team full of good, likeable guys, too.

I took my dog for a walk after the game last night, and with KOA being one of the huge AM stations I was able to pick it up and hear the Denver postgame show. I didn't listen too long, but from what I heard, the fans and media there seemed to believe that they were pretty fortunate to beat a good to very good team. I didn't hear too much moaning about their playing terrible or anything like that.

Yeah I know a lot of you out there hate when someone quotes a lengthy post. But oh well. This post here is worth the repost it just got. I couldn't agree with you more Champsheart.

Post of the day for sure! :starspin

I am proud of this team. Proud of all of our players from the salty veterans to the youngest guy on the team, that being Marion Barber III.

I am proud of Jerry Jones, and very proud of Bill Parcells for going through a very tough 3 game stretch in 11 days, all the while having to deal with the loss of his brother.

We are 7-4 and could very well wake up Monday morning back in 1st place if Seattle takes care of business in Seattle vs. the Giants.

We're definitely in it to win it. Be proud Cowboy fans. This team is going to be fun to watch for many seasons to come.

Great post.

I think that if we would go back a few weeks and look at the board. During this 3 game in 11 day stretch. Most of us would of been happy to win 2 out of the 3. And to read the board today you would think that we had lost all 3 of them.

Thanks for this post. It's nice to see some of us our still level headed and still have hope. :star:

I agree. All we have to do is learn how to finish and we'll probably be invincible. The Colts would have a tough time beating us.

why can't there be more posts like this after a hard-fought game? there's no shame in losing to Denver, and really, the soul-searching after EVERY loss, about the SAME things that are brought up after every loss, yet hardly after a win, is getting really old, this is such a refreshing change, thank you much sir

I had similar feelings to most of those expressed above while watching the game yesterday. It hurt to lose (actually, I felt a little sick) but at the same time I was really proud of the team for being only a missed field goal away from victory over a very good team.

The Cowboys are NOT to be taken for granted anymore. To sort of quote Jimmy Johnson "Great game, each and every one of you, except you Billy, HOW 'BOUT THEM COWBOYS"

Champsheart,

Great post! I did not feel the same frustration over this loss as I did the other 3, and I think your thoughts sum up mine. Denver is a good team and Seattle is a good team. They earned their wins from us, and we didn't lay down. They are both Super Bowl contenders, but we are not far behind.

This is the type of game that Parcells likes to play, minus our lack of running game. We have a lot of young players, and they will only learn from these losses. Pretty soon, these losses will turn to wins.

I haven't lost faith in this team.

you say next year, jerry and bill will fix the OL, and finally get a FS, 2 of our glaring holes going into this season was FS and RT, neither ever got addressed. going into this offseason something must be done at the following positions in no particular order... backup QB, Center, G, RT, LB, FS those positions right there need to be addressed.

as for the rest of your post, i agree, im excited about the rest of the season also, and i feel like if we get on a roll we could win the NFC, but im not totally convinced we could beat the likes of the Colts, Pitt, or maybe even Denver in a SB.

Great post, Champsheart! You gave me a good perspective and a "pick-me-up" after a very frustrating loss.

I think a lot of us really want to gain the respect of the mediots on ESPN, etc. and we were sooooo close to showing what a great young team Bill is putting together that we have to vent and blame someone when we fell short.

But patience is a virtue and we all should enjoy the ride.
