This be it.

A loss in Atlanta, and the offseason will unofficially begin. There is no coming back from 3-5 with the debacles of Chicago, Baltimore, and New York hanging over this franchise like a guillotine with a frayed roped.

3-5 would likely soon be 4-8, and eventually 6-10 or worse.

I don't see Garrett going anywhere (and I'm 100% certain Romo is about to sign an extention this offseason), but at 6-10, the heat on Jerry will be massively intense. So intense, that Garrett could in fact be unexpectedly in trouble.

Jerry got roundly booed during a breast cancer awareness ad. That's unusual, even for Jerry.

Therefore, this Cowboy season hangs in the balance in the Georgia Dome this week. They're a cornered animal, playing against a fat-and-happy undefeated Falcons team.

Sunday is it. Win or it's over.

people said the same thing last week before the giants game and they will say the same thing every week until we are mathematically eliminated. truth is, the season is over, this team will not make the playoffs. It is really that simple. It is hilarious that some of you even consider the playoffs with this team, there are so many problems to fix.

If losing to the Falcons means getting rid of JG or Romo.. then so be it. This team is pathetically coached and needs drastic changes.

Big game for sure.

I do think the Eagles game is even bigger.

I said before this 3 game stretch that they must win at least one of the division games and hopefully two games overall to a have a shot later....barring a massive Giants collapse.

As for Atlanta being fata nd happy. No way. They looked very hungry to me last week.

Exactly right.

There is no playoffs with this team. They are a dumb, poorly coached, undisciplined, team. If we finish 8-8, it should be considered a successful season.

You can't give up hope after less than half the season. Yeah we have underpeformed and I agree, we are poorly coached, dumb etc, but you can't crap on someone for being positive.

Knowing what we know now about each of the teams we've played would lead to the record we currently have, unfortunatley.

NYG (6-2) on the road?--expected loss. Won, so overacheived.

Seattle on the road? tossup. underachieved based on how we played, but given how they have played and won at home vs elite teams, a loss is not shocking.

Chicago (6-1) at home-- tossup. But again, underachieved on the field by getting stomped.

Tampa Bay at home. expected win. won

Baltimore on the road. expected loss. lost, but close. Possibly overachieved.

Carolina on the road. expected win. won, but should have been easier.

NYG at home. toss up. lost a nail-biter

Record is 3-4
Based on who we have played, most people would say it should be either 3-4 or 4-3.

Contrary to the sentiment in this thread.....if you beat Atlanta, then beat the 3-5 Eagles (after New Orleans) and Cleveland, then the season is very much not over.

You'd be 6-4 headed into Thanksgiving against Washington without much travel the rest of the way. The team would have everything to play for at that point.

But at 3-5, the implosion will be too overbearing, and there's no way to win 7 of 8 the rest of the way.

I seen the remaining opponents records they arent very good after the Falcons

Which is probably actually a bad thing for this team.

W, 5-2 so far, so we have underachieved but not like I figured 7-0

Would have been nice.

I agree, there were two games that for sure we would have not been favored in. at NYG and at Baltimore. Then the home NYG game would have been basically a push.

But the teams before the season are not the reality of what the teams are now. Chicago is much better. Baltimore and Seattle are both unbeaten at home.
It's not wildly out of whack on the surface anyway to be 3-4 or 4-3.

Our defense is very good - our offense, particularly our running game, is not good at all. We are about a .500 in the end.

I'll say it for the 1000th time, revamp the OL, and we're in the discussion - and I don't mean replace crap with other crap. Improve the OL.

I'm shocked.

Stop all the mistakes and we have a chance to win any game we play. JMO. Whether we can or do stop them is obviously a big if.

Right now every game is a big game.
In a 16 game season, every game is a big game. If this team starts looking ahead to Thanksgiving before even playing the best team in the NFL on Sunday night, which worries me as is (i.e @ Packers 2010) then we'll see the worst football we've seen in a while (i.e @ Buffalo 2007)

Falcons 31
Cowboys 27

Even though I believe Atlanta is overdue for a loss. We'll give a big effort and find a way to lose it.
