For everyone who has played competitive sports for several years, you learn there are just some seasons or teams that simply cannot get over the hump. You score 2 runs in top of the 9th to send the game to extra innings and then score 4 runs in the top of the 10th to take the lead only to lose in the bottom of the 10th. You take the lead in a football game with 5 seconds to play, kick off and the other team runs it back for a touchdown and wins the game.

If this happens once in a while, you write it off as bad luck. If this happens regularly, you start to accept this is what your team is. Some call it "snakebitten" others call it "choking". The end result is you lost no matter how hard you tried or how close you came to winning. Whatever you call it, this team has it.

This team does not know how to win. It has not known how to win since Jimmy Johnson left. That's not to say if Jimmy were here, everything would be fixed. I am simply saying that since the end of the 1993 season, this organization forgot how to win. Sure they won the Super Bowl in 1995, but that was based on a team full of Super Bowl winning experience and pure talent. This team has neither.

Our players are sloppy. They lack focus. They lack consistency. They replace expectations with hope and wishful thinking. Our coaching staff uses encouragement as their primary motivation rather than demanding and expecting more from the players. Encouragement works, but only as a complimentary technique, rather than primary, when coaching men.

There must be consequences for failure to do your job. There are none on the Cowboys. As long as that remains true, this team is destined to almost win.

Great post !

We just need a new direction. The attitude is there, the desire to win is there. We just have ****ty play calling, and poor game management.

We don't play to our strength, instead we play the way defenses allow us to play.

Couldn't agree more with the OP. There's something fundamentally wrong with this organization... and his initials are Jerry Jones.

Didn't know it had fallen out of fashion to blame Jerry. Last time I checked he is the GM and calls all the shots. Who in your infinite wisdom is to blame? Please tell us.

This organization is broken and it starts at the very top.

But what are we going to do about it?

Best we an do is pray he turns over control to someone else.

Unfortunately control will have to be pried from his cold, dead hands.

At what point do we start benching players for their mental errors? At what point do you make a statement with Felix and/or Dez? At what point does that one great play not negate the 10 bad ones? I was sold on Garrett, in part because I thought he was young and hungry, but mainly because he wasn't Wade. I'm officially off the JG bandwagon.

2nd and 1 and we go shotgun? We lose because we can't get a first down? This is absolutely unacceptable. I can see trying for a miracle on 4th and long because we were held by the Giants D. But really? 2nd and 1 and we can't get a first to give ourselves a fighting chance? Disgraceful. This football dolt Garrett has to go.
