Do the Cowboys actually belong in the playoffs?

I was watching this week's games and several things stood out. The biggest being the lack of STUPID penalties, and stupid ones at the wrong time. Looking at last night's game you didn't see false starts, too many men on the field, illegal procedures etc etc?? If that were us, I could see us finishing our game with the high usual amount of penalties!! You can't win games like that. These teams showed me a lot and how they're well coached. Something isn't being hammered into these players in Dallas about how penalties affect the game!

I also watched these teams make plays when they need to on offense or defense. The play makers on offense, guys on the DL making plays, secondary playing good coverage at times. It wasn't all perfect, but when you look at us and compare these teams, we're ages away from where they are! We can say we have a Superbowl team, but when will these players act like it! Please give your thoughts

Defense wins championship though a bad offense can lose them by turning over the ball

I also saw stupid time management, bad use of timeouts, bad decisions on fourth down, dumb play calls

That being said, do we deserve to be in the playoffs? No. The only team as bad as us was Carolina and they beat us.

Our talent on defense is so far below any of the teams who made the playoffs, it’s ridiculous to think we belong

No not a playoff team. Won't be a playoff team next year either unless Jerry does something in FA for once. It'll be at least 2 off-seasons to get this defense to average or better.

Good point on the penalties . It’s shocking to watch teams return kicks and not get called for holding or teams like the Rams go into the 4th quarter before they get there first penalty of the game .

Yeah, it showed Dallas is not even close to competing in a division playoff game… every one of those eight teams would beat the Cowboys.. hands down. Too much talent/scheme gap at this time.

The first step back is hiring a great DC… and even that worries me. Jerry will need to step outside of himself and we all know he can’t help himself.

No we aren't close we are poorly coached when you watch playoff teams too many mistakes.

Playoff teams pay their coaches three times more than we pay ours so you get what you pay for and what we pay for gets us sitting and watching the good coaches play in the postseason

The will to try to win was so intense amongst all the teams, but there were a surprising number of turnovers.

Dallas is not in the same class as any of these teams, especially on D and special teams. And the offense needs help too, especially RT.

I’ve said this in other threads . Sorenson ST needs to be fired and if they have to dip into the college ranks for a replacement so be it .

that's lack of focus and discipline from the players. it start with the head coach and on down.

That could be as well . I know it’s more enjoyable to watch a game when refs in a fast violent sport let DB’s and WR’s have some hand fighting for position instead of going for the penalty flag as a reflex .

Another thing you see this time of year….defensive line play dominates.

They finally fixed the DT room but now the rush lacks.

Every time they plug a hole another arises. I expect safety to be a huge problem this year as they will think they can squeeze more out of Wilson and Hooker.

The offense does. But the defense and Special teams couldn't keep up with middle school JV teams.
