There exist on both offense and defense 14 possible positions to draft. If you estimate that the top 5 players for each of those positions very well could be starting quality in their first year, that accounts for the 1st 70 draft picks available, which means the Cowboys could get, at least, two top prospects in the 2nd and early third round. Since Curtis Taylor is valued differently dependent on the site you visit, I think the Cowboys could get away with picking him up in the 4th round or later, which leaves other positions that need to be addressed on the table, such as NT/DE, dependent on how we play Ratliff next year and/or if we retain Tank/Canty, ILB, dependent on what happens with Z. Thomas and Burnett, CB, dependent on what happens with Anthony Henry, and, lastly, but equally important, Backup QB.

Picks by Round: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 7th plus any compensatory picks that may be awarded.

My ideal mockdraft with what he have thus far:

2nd - Fili Moala, NT USC 6'4" 303 - I qualify this selection with his familiarity in the 3-4 and ability to interchange at DE.
3rd - Domonique Johnson, CB Jackson State 6'1" 192 - HUGE Cowboys fan, btw. http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/domoniquejohnsoninterview.htm
4th - Curtis Taylor, S LSU 6'3" 210
4th - Jason Phillips, ILB TCU 6'1" 234
5th - Rhett Bomar, QB SHS 6'2" 224 - I think he just might fall this far, because of the school he is coming out of and the other candidates available.
5th - Jason Watkins, OT Florida 6"6' 317
6th - Greg Isdaner, OG WV 6'4" 315
7th - Willie Williams, OLB Union 6'3" 232 - I'll probably get hammered for this one too, considering his off-the-field issues; but with him having all the talent in the world to excel, and nothing but his issues holding him back, I think he might be a steal, as well, provided he is kept on a short leash.
7th - Dallas Reynolds, C BYU 6'5" 328

I do not claim to be a draft expert and highly doubt that the Cowboys draft any of these players, since I have never had one single pick actually drafted by the Cowboys in previous years. However, I tried to pick players not so much for how they were rated, but how they could possibly fit the Dallas mold for given positions. For instance, in the offensive line, I looked at the bigger guys available since that fits their current player profile. That having been said, what do you guys think?

I like the Moala pick, would rather have Chung in the 3rd (if he's there), Phillips at that spot could be a steal, not crazy on Bomar. Don't really know much about the others.

My only problem with Chung is he is small. Furthermore, I don't think he will still be available.
