Yes, I think we do. If it wasn't for this Dak-Rush thing, all we'd be talking about is this amazing defense.

They're fun to watch.
That’s all the trolls are talking about. The rest of us are excited Rush is keeping us in the conversation until Dak returns .m

Most likely neither will be enough to take us to promise land. But I’d certainly like my chances better with our starter.

I think we're close bullet but we're still a couple players away.

We need to use a first round pick on a defensive tackle stop drafting these guys with character issues and find our 2023 version of Mel renfro in the second round

Yep. And maybe another LB or Strong Safety LB type to close up the middle on rushing plays.

This OP must be an imposter, @Bobhaze would never post a thread like this. He's the guy, that tells the guy, to pump the brakes on a thread like this

I don't think this defensive unit offers impending doom to the opposition, but they do offer hope to the fan base. This unit is certainly capable of giving the opposition a "Bad Day" :flagwave:

For the last two decades, maybe with a couple of exceptions in ‘06 and ‘09, the best part of any Cowboys team was the offense. And there’s no question that was by design. Three games into this long season, there’s no question the script has flipped. The defense is now easily the best side of the ball.

I will temper our thrills a little with the reminder that we’re just a tad over 1/6th of the way through the season. But still, the early returns on the D are impressive.

Let’s look at the proof in the stats through 3 games:
  • Points allowed- Ranked 4th, allowing 17.3 pts per game. Pretty salty. You win a ton of games with that stat. Especially playoff games if you can sustain it.
  • Total Yds/game- Ranked 9th allowing 312 yards per game.
  • Total Sacks- Ranked #1 with 13 sacks. Parsons has 4 and budding stud Dorance Armstrong has 3)
  • Passing Yds Allowed- Ranked 4th with 176 ypg. I’m sure that has a lot to do with pressure.
  • Rushing Yds Allowed- Ranked 23rd with 136 yds per game. The one area that still needs major improvement. Still allowing about 5 yds per rush.
  • Total TOs- Ranked #16 with just 1 int so far. Still very early.
Again, it’s early. Some of these numbers will change, but the thing that jumps out are the sacks. If this defense can sustain the pressure, we will be in a lot of games even when the offense can’t perform at a high level. Which may be quite often.

Do we have a “New Doomsday Defense”? Signs are pointing that direction.
Doomsday III baby!’

I just think we have a new LT and he’s making everyone better, especially since Quinn loves to move him around. Without #11 you can forget winning close games.

i understand everyone is excited about Parsons . It’s about time we hit big on a 1st round pick on defense . One we didn’t even intend on drafting until our CB’s were snatched right in front of us .

But anyway, I’d still like to see Parsons do more than rack up sacks and just put pressure on QB. The greats he’s being compared to did.

He has 4.3 speed. He can run with anyone . I’d like to see him make some big stops on run defense or in short coverage like a LB. I could see him making a pick 6 too.

I still think he has more to offer than just rushing the passer.
