Do we currently have a playoff team? I think the answer is a resounding yes.

For those of you who say no, you pretty much have to give Garrett a hall pass if you feel that way.

This feels like a NFC Championship game level team to me.

Love your optimism bro! I wish it was contagious, i see the cowboys at a borderline playoff team but definately not a NFC championship team.

Heck I would be more surprised if we made the championship game then I would be if we went 9-7 and barely missed the playoffs

Great OL and running game, what seems like a decent defense, and a young QB who should be set up for success. Should definitely be a playoff team. The run defense concerns me, as does the safety position to a degree, but there's enough talent to make the playoffs for sure. Super Bowl might be a different story. JMO.
No reason not to be optimistic.

I think dallas either sneaks in or comes up just short getting the last wild card this season. Dont see a deep run if they get in.

If they have another good offseason next year they could be contenders for years to come. As long as dak pans out which I feel he will.

I agree.

I'm not singleing you out or anything but since you posted this I wanted to get your opinion. I'm sure you realize every single team in the NFL has holes somewhere right? Even the defending champ eagles.

There is always some position out of the 22 that fans wish they had a better starter or more depth at, and it seems unrealistic to me (it's impossible to have above average/probowlers at EVERY position)

So what really is such a glaring weakness on our team that it overrides our strength and makes us unable to compete for a championship? I'm seriously asking.

9-7 team, fails to qualify for playoffs.

QB the same, hopefully improves, accuracy and consistency.
RB the same, but 16 games of Zeke.
WR deeper but no true #1, despite OP's irrational hatred of previous #1.
TE downgrade, talent level may be among league's worse.
OL slight upgrade immediately, definitely long term with Connor Williams.

DL very deep, true strength of the defense
LB LVE looks promising, not sure if instant upgrade over Hitchens. Absolutely a long-term upgrade.
CB loses veteran leader. Byron transitioning, again. If Byron is better at CB than Scandrick was, then upgrade. 16 games of Chido helps here too.
S not necessarily a downgrade but definitely not an upgrade. Like TE, might be bottom 3 in the league at this position. Glaring vulnerability against top QB's.

K Same, hopefully Bailey's late game issues were a fluke.
P Same, Jones is solid.
KR Austin is an upgrade.

I'm seeing 10-6 at best, early exit from playoffs.

We were just 13-3 two years ago. It took devastating injuries along the oline plus a suspension to our all-world RB for us to barley miss them at 9-7 last year. Why would you feel we are gonna miss again this year? I don't understand

I believe we surprised people in Daks and Zeke rookie years. There wasn’t much tape on them and their tendencies weren’t truly studied. It took an off season for all the defensive gurus and their legions of interns to chart all the plays and come up with percentages and tendencies...and how to play the new cowboys. They adjusted after having a year of film.

It’s hapoened to others as well. RG3 and Kaepernick took the nfl by storm early on, but the defenses caught up. In the case of RG3, I think injuries also played a role

The potential is there but they need a good training camp and a bit of luck and no injury bug.

I need to see the passing offense which at this point is a big unknown with a wide variance in possible outcomes.

I feel good about the running offense and the front 7. Some questions about the secondary and special teams as well.

All teams have questions and it is all about how they are answered over the next several months that makes the difference.

I have said from the beginning that I feel we will be a 9-7 team with a normal amount of injuries. I think we'd be fortunate to end up a 10-6 team with the difficult schedule that we'll have this year. We'll have rookies and youngsters that will quite likely make their fair share of mistakes this year, although with surprisingly good development, they could conceivably help us to achieve playoff status. Anything can happen. Nobody knows for sure.
