Do we have a shot at a first round bye?

I just want the team to play a playoff game period. It has sadly been way too long since we have played in the playoffs!

So would you be okay with going to Green Bay or Seattle to play a playoff game? I ask because I don't think anyone else wants to do that.

The NFC West games are going to be fun to watch down the stretch. Those offenses are so terrible, and with how well those defenses are playing, anything could happen really.

Seattle probably has the best offense of the group but as seen yesterday, they were gifted some significant points on questionable calls. Outside of those instances where bad calls gave them new life, they didn't do much of anything at all and I like the Cards defense over the Niners right now. The Cards get away with a lot of contact at home, and I could see them holding the Seattle offense to 13 or less, and doing just enough to carry out a W. The Cards winning that game is probably best case scenario for us.

I don't think the Rams will beat Seattle in Seattle but after the Niners, Cards, and Rams they're going to be a little beat up. I haven't looked at the scenarios this week but I wouldn't mind having them at home in Dallas if they lose the division to the Cards. If the Cards beat Seattle I think they clinch the division, in which I think it's possible we could play the Cards in AZ 2nd round or Seattle at home in the first round. Maybe both? I haven't looked but that'd be a nice setup.

I don't want to play GB, period, at home or at Lambeau. Rodgers is a man and I do not want to see him against our defense. I think that's probably our worst matchup because he has the ability to just seek and destroy your weakest targets on defense.

I hope TY isn't playing this week. The Colts are #1 in passing yards? I didn't know that. I think their run defense #'s are probably skewed from that stat, as teams are probably passing more to keep up, so if we can slow the game down a bit we definitely have a better than good chance to win the game. I wonder what the line is for that matchup

Well there will be no choice man. We are very likely to get the 3rd seed if we win out and will end up playing at home the first round of the playoffs vs a team like Detroit. If we win, the odds are we will have to go on the road to play a team like Green Bay or Seattle. Ultimately, I would just be very happy to even make the playoffs.

Okay, fair enough. I just think we stand a better chance playing on the road through out the playoffs. I know we have to be happy with whatever seed we get but I think the 5 or 6 seed would net us another Super Bowl victory... road warriors that we are.

Our only hope is to get the top seed and I believe that only happens if both Detroit and Green Bay drop a game. Detroit would have to get beaten by Chicago (unlikely but it is a Division game so who knows?). Green Bay will never lose to Tampa so that means that Detroit would have to beat Green Bay in Green Bay on the last game of the regular season. I mean, it's not impossible if Detroit were to lose to Chicago. That would mean a win or go home game for Detroit and who knows what happens in that situation but it's unlikely. However, if those things happened, that would mean that both Detroit and Green Bay end up with 11-5 Records and I think that Green Bay would miss the playoffs. This assumes that Seattle wins out, which is likely IMO. If we also win out, that would mean that Seattle and Dallas each have 12-4 records and we are top seed, by virtue of head to head.

Very, very unlikely but it could happen.

You nailed the scenario to get top seed. Nice job. It's not impossible but seems very unlikely. If we win out, I think with all things considered we will end up the 3rd seed and play at home vs Detroit.

If we truly do suck at home then we probably don't have to worry about where we play our playoff game because there won't be one.

This Colts game is huge.

It's not all that unlikely really. The biggest stretch is the Det/Chi game, but I definitely think Detroit can be had (they have barely escaped with many of their wins). And Det knocking off GB isn't too much of a stretch either. They dominated them earlier, and GB has strugged with good defenses. I wouldn't say those outcomes are probable, but they are definitely very possible.
