Do we have no LB's that can cover?

Now I know Bennet is a quality tightend, but over 10 catches on one leg ?
Really ?
That was downright embarrasing !
Was this because we were in a prevent defense ?
It just seemed he was open the entire second half,
and was playing catch with Cutler.
It seemed overall our defense let up the 4th quarter,
and if not for Oscan's pick, this game could have been in doubt.

It drives me nuts when a receiver will run by a defender in a zone with NO OTHER PLAYER is in the vicinity and they just let him go.

Isn't there such a thing as a "match up zone"?
Much like basketball where you play your area but pick up man to man to anybody who comes into it.

Seems like a pretty good game plan to leave the gimpy TE open and shut down the other options.

Yes, it would be good to see the underneath coverage guys switch to a man in zone coverage. You have to be careful though and not have a play like the one where Carr dropped the WR to cover Sproles short in the Eagles game. That resulted in the WR being completely open deep.

This team gets no pressure from the DL. Does not matter if they can cover when the QB has all day.

Dallas played a very passive zone scheme. The short middle zone was wide open. Bennett caught most of his passes 4-6 yds from the line of scrimmage. Similar to how Romo found Murray open all game.

Durant and Lee are outstanding in coverage , it's unfortunate.

Durant. Carter as well but the dude just doesn't get it.

I mean if there's nothing happening in front of you why let the TE go free.........right past ya.

I don't get that.

You cats forget were leaning on a LB who was all but a cast off from the ravens (granted he's been a stud latley) in the middle

Then a 4th rd pick who is stepping up admirably.... and another career back up

Don't forget our guy who is usually in coverage with these guys in Lee who we paid to handle that role is out for the year

This defense is completely lost when playing zone yet the coaching staff keeps trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

This is the perfect way to describe good zone coverage teams like SEA. It's not just "sit", it' sit until a player enters in which you convert to man coverage until you release them to the next zone, etc. Lee is the master of this. Scan seems to be the only secondary player capable @ the moment (S's included)

Coming into the game Bennett led the league with receptions so he's better than most care to admit...

Yep. Man technique in your zone.
