Do we have the running game to win on the road?

Jimmy Johnson always said the key to Red Zone football is being able to run the rock inside the 20 he was 100% correct. I sit here tonite on this autumn eve sipping on an Irish Coffee , pondering Hostile enviornments - Washington,NY & Philly in the dark and cold - I harken back to the days of #22 and recall one of the signature runs of our young team of the 90's - a draw play in RFK - stadium shaking...everyone looking pass, who were these upstart Cowboys, a team from yesteryear - the Give to Smith...TD of about 20 plus yards...do we have that moxie? that talent? Dan Reeves shuts down Irvin and Aikman in NY on a cold day and Emmitt carries us to glory so we didn't have to go back to NY the next week in the playoffs...Emmit at the dirty vet - 60 yard scamper #1 Finger raised at the white trashers ...
Where are these runs coiming from? is MB3 good because he's a change of pace guy? or is he good because JJ isn't ?
Whatever happened to this JJ BTW?

That JJ is still there, but if the hole isn't......you saw Barber getting hit for no yards in the first half which is part of my point about our o-line not being as good as advertised.

But, do we have a running game to win away games? Yep, but they don't wake up until the second half after Romo has had his way with the defense. :)

Well IMO this our best OL since our heyday ...

Uh...we're ranked #5 in yards per game and #4 in yards per carry. Why wouldn't we have the running game to win anywhere?

...because Barber got stopped on two consecutive plays for no gain. Duh.

Those stats are deceiving - MB3 had two huge runs at the end of games...to pile yards on - stats padders - take a look at JJ's numbers - some of the worst I can recall for a starting RB.

I wasn't aware that we were the only team in the NFL that runs when we've got the lead...wierd. No wonder we're so good...we're the only team that gets "stat padders".

I didn't see the Miami game, but for the most part in the Chicago game, they stacked 8 men in the box-which was why Garrett had to make adjustments to go to the passing game, which of course, worked b/c of the mismatches he found-from there, our run game opened up.

Anyhow-run games usually start a bit slow anyways-especially in close games, it's important to be patient with it.

Doesn't matter. Teams respect our run game and as you just stated it could burn them at any time. Throw in the O-line and wearing down the defenses, you KNOW they are taking that into account when they play us.

Running game is great, IMO.

Yeah, no kidding.

You (BJM) go through and take out every team's longest runs that don't matter and then tell me what we're ranked. In other words, bring something to the table or shut the hell up.

Is our running game on par with Indy's, New Englands, or Green Bay's? Yea, I'd say it is. If not better.

I didn't know Green Bay had a running game. I thought Brett Favre was trying to rack up as many TDs as possible before he breaks the Blanda interception record.
