He was much better earlier in the year and wore down late.

He does not need to be cut of course, but we certainly need to provide him some competition. He was basically handed the job last year.

He didn't get a lot of time in the Philly games because they did a lot of passing but his best game BY FAR was the playoff game against Minnesota.

He took on double teams excellenty and abused their center in one on one matchups. He played mostly towards the end of the game.


I watch line play closely and can tell you that backup NT won't be that high of a priority for us unless someone falls in our lap.

Siavii had some so so games and there are times when he gets pushed more than Rat because he's 6'5 and doesn't get low enough. But he's more than adequate as a backup NT.

You should see the pictures of Cody from the Combine, it was shocking to me as well.

You think Andre Smith looked like a disgusting blob, you have not seen Cody. He is still a good player, but he is a pile of complete flab. 370 pounds with absolutely no muscle definition is not a good thing.

I wanted him as well, but now have moved on. Dan Williams is far more attractive now.

We need some guy who will first provide depth but then eventually, if he continues to develop, we may even see certain plays where him and Ratliff are both in the game because Ratliff can be like a Richard Seymour. They alligned him that way for pass rush purposes when the Eagles had their 3WR package on the field, not for run stopping.

Siavii subs in when we need to give Rat a break and stop the run.

I wouldn't know. I say if the Cowboys get Terrance Cody from Alabama Nose Tackle and turn Ratliff into a Defensive End. I say keep him but if Cody is drafted and Ratliff is still at Nose Tackle I say get rid of em.

No. For two MAIN reasons.

A.) Ratliff is a Pro Bowl player at NT. That's one of if not the most important position on defense.
B.) We need Ratliff's presence on the interior far more than on the edge with Ware and Spencer. Rat makes Ware/Spencer better, and vice verca.

The guy is a JAG, nothing special. If we can find a replacement that is an upgrade and doesnt cost us an arm and a leg, then we should do it.

I guess the question is does Cody have the dedication to become a quality player (or at least deserving to be a Round 1 pick, for example)? How are his practice habits?

Could it be he's not in shape because he hasn't learned the importance of nutrition, etc. and once he does learn, he'll be fine?

I think it's these questions the staff needs to find an answer to.

It's just too expensive to spend a first on a guy who doesn't really want to be "great".
