Do we really have a dominant OL?

We don't run well early because Julius Jones starts the game, and he is most effective when running behind a zone-blocking offensive line. Our OL does not zone-block; it man-blocks, and that caters better to Barber's style. That's why the run game does not pick up until Barber gets going in the game - well it's that and the fact that Barber is simply a better RB than Julius Jones.

I'm beginning to think the line is good enough if the play calling is good enough. We need to cut down on the straight-ahead blocking, up-the-middle runs, because they generally go nowhere, at least in the 1st half.

We can get yards when we pull the linemen and get them blocking out in space. Our longest run plays in the first half of games so far have either been Barber getting around the edge and down the sideline, or Julius following a pulling Kozier through the hole to pick up good yardage in the middle of the field.

I also think it's about time to see a direct snap to JJ, and let him use his speed to get outside. Do it from the same formation we ran the shotgun draws from last week.
