Might be a dumb question, but does this nullify his contract and loosen up cap room? Not trying to be cold but i'm seeing if there's any silver lining for the cowboys here.

Yes, the Cowboys are on the hook for just over $22 million dead money, even if Fred Beard never plays another down.

Why wouldn’t we pay him ... he will be back, maybe even this year...have some faith. From what I’ve read, by the time the season starts he could be 2 months or more with the illness...

I have been asking this. If put on NFI do the Boys get the cap space back?

I'm praying my friend.. our contract extensions lately seemed to be cursed.

Jerry will pay Frederick no matter if he plays again. Now if it was some joe blow spare, might be a different case. But Jerry takes care of his guys.

Frederick will play again.

Worst case scenario he is out one season and back by next year.

No need to worry about his contract.

Assuming T-Fred had to retire, there’s some type of injury settlement in place, although he wasn’t technically injured on the job, there are contingencies in place..

If he has to retire, he has to sell beer at ATT stadium until he works the guarenteed money off

If they put him on the NFI they wouldn't have to pay him his base salary

But they already converted 8.6m of the 10m into a signing bonus for restructuring so he already got most of it..... the 1.3m left is guaranteed but only for injury and not illness

None of his future 5/39m contract is guaranteed so they could walk away without owing him another dollar

They would save 1.3m in cap space this year........ save 6m next year and break even in 2020 unless they rolled over the 6m from 2019

Why wouldn't they still pay him. Fredrick may play again but his illness is bigger than football. He's dealing with a serious illness and hopefully he will remain a great football player, but more importantly have a long and productive life.

lol. Fredbeard may be playing in week 1. Maybe in week 4. Maybe by end of year. He will be playing again. He is fine.
