Do you guys remember that the games MB3 started last year he did well?

A lot of people use the excuse that the only reason MB3 does so well is because he gets long draw plays and comes in when the defense is tired.

Well there is one word to say about that, and that is namely the games he had last year against Seattle and Arizona when Julius was hurt. He ran with the same intensity and had solid games in both. As I recall in the Seattle game he had 80+ yards and against the Cardinals he had 129 (?) and 2 TDs.

Now granted, the Cards aren't a great team, but Seattle obviously was, and I distinctly remember one play against them where he literally ran over the safety.

It would be interesting to see Barber actually get a good set of series in the first half and see how he did. I think he'd do very well, as he has shown in the past, but we won't know until it actually happens.

I doubt Bill is going to change this up mid-season. If Barber starts then Julius would have to be the 3rd down back -- I think he's be very good in that role but he hasn't been practicing in many of the 3rd down sets. The change would involve two guys changing roles and Bill hates to do that.

ya know what I think? (And youse know how i hate to think)

I am thinking that BP has visions of trading his "starter" next off season and keeper MBIII and Tyson Thompson.

If he can get secondary help I'd be OK with that. Of course, BP rarely asks me for advice but if he phones me. . . .

Barber did get some early carries in the 2 games before the saints and did very well. Its just that some people started posting that barber comes in fresh when the defense is tired and gets easy carries and a bunch of people have been repeating that all year long without taking the time to notice that is not the case. Running it in from the 10 when the other team thinks you are going to run is not an easy carry. In addition to running harder i think barber has better vision too.

Sure I remember that. I remember being very impressed with MB3 as a rookie in that Cards game. He ran just like he does now, with PASSION!

I have no doubt he is starter material.

I dont know that I am calling for MB3 player to start... but... I think he can.... he runs the same on every play and whether a D is fresh or tired has something but not everything to do with his results.

Leave well enough alone. The guy is such a force when he's fresh. Julius hasn't turned the ball over and has done an adequate job.

If changes need to be made, they need to be made on defense...that's the glaring problem here.

I don't think MBIIIs style will allow him to be an every-down, 20 carries per game type back. He runs too violent and I dont think he can be a guy getting 320 carries per year.

Dont forget that this was the main reason JJ had a great rookie year.

Parcells has visions of keeping his backs strong, healthy, and effective for this playoff run. He clearly views Barber as his 2006 version of Ottis Anderson. If you remember 1990 Anderson picked up steam at the end of the year and dominated in the playoffs and Superbowl.

I don't know if the original poster intentionall left this out or just forgot, but MB3 also started vs. the Gmen and had 2.7 YPC on 11 carries. I'm not an MB3 hater, or JJ supporter, just pointing that out.

Actually, I'm the one that is wrong. Anthony Thomas started that game.

Marion Barber looks like he's going to be a machine. I was very impressed the other day, watching him against Atlanta.

Why is Julius Jones starting over him?

i don't think it's amatter of mb3 not being able to do it. but a matter of bill wanting him fresh at the end. mb3 does all the short ydg stuff and 3rd downs. the rotation allows for him to get his carries late as opposed to early. jones gets his early and if he's on he will get more carries, if not then mb3 will take over.that keeps him under 20 carries and fresh for the playoffs. now once we get into the playoffs you might see a short leash on jones but till then it's working just fine

I dont understand you guys.

Why do we care we freakin starts. WHO THE HECK CARES.!!.

I want BArber in in 4th quarter PUNISHING defenders, on his way to a TD.

Romo takes the first half, barber finsihes them in the second.

Who cares whos starting. It's always about how you end. And i like the way we end.

SO LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE!!!

Jeez
