I see all of these coaches of today - Jack DelRio - Bill Cowher - Schottenheimer - Mangini - Childress - etc etc all pumping their fists , getting into it, inspiring their troops - Cowher ala Jimmy Johnson gets in their faces , tells them not to quit, pumps up his OL...Slams heads with Porter etc and Parcells just sits there with that puss on his face - and is always looking negatiive and disapproving. I watched him yesterday after McBriar hit a 62 yd bomb punt to see if he'd go over and slap his helmet , nothing! not even a head shake! man that would irk me.

I have always believed that Parcells should have fresh baked cookies and glasses of ice cold milk on the sideline for when his players actually do their jobs.

You mean like Tom Landry?
No that's just it - I mean has Parcells fallen out of touch with today's player - you know what I mean? Today's athlete wants to love his coach and get recogniton - I think the days of the stoic coach are about done - don't forget Tom had BIG problems dealing wit the changing athlete ala Everson Walls, Butch Johnson etc

No .... Tom got to old to handle those types of players ....

If anything Bill is getting to old ...... but that coaching style still works.

You're right. None of Parcells' players enjoy playing for him. That's why none of his former players are ever willing to play for him again on another team. That's also why none of them ever come back after they retire to become assistants for him, or participate in offseason clinics with his teams. Parcells will never amount to anything.

I was actually under the impression that we hired Parcells to coach football not to be a cheerleader.

I don't think he would look all that good in one of those skimpy little outfits either.

To be honest I don't think he is too negative. The guy takes things in stride, good or bad, which I think is a good attitude in life. Notice how he won't praise anyone in press conferences, or rarely does. But on the flip-side, when **** goes wrong like it did on Sunday, he doesn't rip into his team either and start flinging that blame around. Nor does he ever lose hope in this team.

...talented, but immature you are going to have trouble with Parcells. He's old school in that way.

Players who gravitate to Parcells. They seems to be no nonsense about their business on the field. They seem to carry a certain maturity about the game of football. They work hard and show up on Sundays.

But guys who have talent and are contrary they don't last. See Antonio Bryant. Eventually his hounding will get old as you look for a break or a kind word and don't see it.

The only time I ever heard Parcells talk about someone in a caring manner was his comment about Dat Nguyen. Coming off the field from a game he recounted to the reporters that he took the time to apologize to Dat for not letting him know how much he appreciated him. That seems to be Bill. When the game is on the game is on. After the gun sounds look for the considerations.
