Do you have any concerns about the Rams?

I think it's safe to say that expectations are pretty high that we should win this week against the Rams. However this is the NFL and it seems that some teams can jump up and bite you when you least expect it.

I'm not trying to play the role of pessimist but I would like to know what are some of the potential "suprises" that we could see this week.

My biggest concern is that although they have been out of sync so far, the Rams are capable of a potent passing attack. Bulger claims that the ribs do not hinder his ability to throw the ball and there must be some truth to this or I don't think he would be playing. They still have Torry Holt and although Ike is getting old, he is still an experienced receiver with a few tricks up his sleeve. I'm not sure about his receiving abilities, but Dante Hall's speed is a threat, especially on returns.

The last couple of games have been encouraging, as far as our secondary goes, but you have to admit that Grossman and Green are not in the same catagory as Bulger. We saw what happened in our secondary the last time we faced a strong QB. This game could potentially be a bigger test for the secondary than the last two.

What are your thoughts?

Clearly a game we should win but I would not take any team for granted. I have seen too many shockers over the years. If Dallas comes in focused and ready to play we should win big.

I would be more worried if BP was our coach.

Should be simple. If the front seven get pressure (which should be easy given the offensive line injuries) and hit Bulger early and often, then this game will be an easy victory. If not, then the Rams have a chance.

Agree. If we get to Bulgar hard an often, their offense isn't going anywhere. If our OL dominants their DL like we have other DLs for last 3 games, our offense will feast like it usually does.

BTW: I've read/heard frequently about their offensive woes, but little about the fact that their CB Tye Hill in injuried and is out for 2-3 weeks. W/o knowing anything about their secondary, few teams can afford to lose a starting CB. I'm sure Garrett and Romo will take advantage of that situation frequently.

If I'm not mistaken 2 of their top 3 CB's are out for this game. I've watched all three Rams games so far this year and I'm telling you their tackling is pathetic. I don't care if they have the #7 defense or not there D isn't very good. I'd be surprised if we don't put 30+ on them. Their #1 draft pick a DE (Carriker) is playing DT because they don't have enough guys inside and it shows he should be a DE. I think he'd be a solid DE who can rush the passer, but inside in not where he should be. As soon as O. Pace went down against Carolina the St. Louis O has struggled. Now they do get a guard back this week, but they still have two awful tackles. I'd like to see us pound that D-Line and just beat up the Rams. On D I'd try and have as much movement with our linebackers as we can to confuse them. With people unsure of what they're suppose to do, faking blitzes and flipping Ware and Spencer will hopefully confuse the hell outta them.

well we can be thrown on, and the rams receivers are better than the Giants, Bears or Dolphins, so thata a concern.

My only concern is that we will take them lightly and come out flat. In the past, this has been a trap game for us, we are hot and we play a team that is struggling to win games. We come out completely flat and lose a close one (see the Commanders & Lions games last season).

My hope is that Wade has the guys prepared and focused on the task at hand. Fortunately, Romo doesn't look at football simply as a serious business but as something he has fun doing so at least he should be fired up to play.

I know from being in central IL and reading a lot of Rams info that their fans and media isn't happy with the conservative play calling. This week is going to be different for them because they don't have Stephen Jackson to lean on and hand off to 30 times. I wouldn't be surprised to see they try and air it out at first and see how it goes for them. I expect to see a lot of 3 and 4 wides and short 3 step drops to get the ball out of Bulgers hands. Lets hope Reeves is ready to play this week because I bet he sees the ball his way a lot.

Well, in terms of yards per game, Dallas (26th) will be the weakest opponent which St. Louis has matched up which this season. Their other three opponents, Carolina (17th), San Francisco (11th) and Tampa Bay (8th), were stronger in pass defense. However, the Cowboys (8th) will be the strongest of the four opponents--with the Panthers, 49ers and Buccaneers being 13th, 25th and 21st versus the run, respectively--which the Rams have had to run against thus far.

So, if I have an immediate concern, it would be how well we could counter the Rams' passing attack, but that would lead me to ask this question. Since OUR passing attack has been quite potent against the pass defenses of the Dolphins (7th) and Bears (14th), raking in 38+ points per game (1st in the league) and 5th in passing yards/game, AND the small possibility that the Rams will be able to run effectively against our defense (especially with Steven Jackson out with a groin injury), would it be in the Rams' best interest to get into a shootout with us?

My answer is no and my concerns for the Rams stop there.

I don't think our OL has been as great as people are saying, they've been wearing guys down sure, but our running game has only gotten going when we've had the lead and the other defense has had to take chances, plus Barber has had some pretty spectacular TD runs or that catch. Romo has also done a great job of avoiding sacks and moving when the blocking breaks down. We could certainly be doing better, I know against the Bears the refs helped them out a bit, but we've got to cut down on penalties and mental mistakes.

They have good WRs and a good QB. The key is hoping that their O-Line problems continue.

Plus I hope that the backup RB does not have a career type day against us. In the past we have let 2nd stringers have a good day vs us.

Those fourth qtr runs by MB were because the D was dead; the O line had worn them down and finished them off. As long as we keep it up, we can wear down ANY D line. I hope that Jason calls a lot of sweeps, cross action run plays, etc= anything to make the D line run and exhaust themselves. Have Romo roll out a lot- that makes them run as well.
We should win this game easily. THERE ARE NO EXCUSES. We are better then they are and they are crippled by injuries. The only way we lose is to sleepwalk this one.

Agree. They like to throw those underneath crossing routs and if we play back they will go for 8, 12 ....all day. We have to make Bulger hold it and let D Ware get in his grill. No 3 or 5 step drops.

I thought I read somewhere that the Rams' players don't like their HC(Scott Linahan)-at the end of last season, there was quite a bit of in-house fighting.

Even when healthy-this team is one of the oldest in the league, especially on D.

With that being said, this game scares me b/c the Rams will STILL come out hungry b/c they're winless and they're playing us-I just hope we don't take them lightly.
