I have a neighbor who fits this description to a T. Her name is Arin and she is actually very highly educated. Stanford and MIT as a matter of fact. Knows Art and History as well as anyone you will ever talk to who is not a Professor. Book smarts she's got.
Oh my gosh is she sadly lacking in common sense.
About 2 weeks ago she asked me to change her faucets for her. In the Kitchen she asked me to please keep the "Reverse Osmosis Water Purifier" a friend of hers had installed.
This is a Reverse Osmosis System.
This is what her "friend" charged her $150.00 to install.
In case you didn't know, that is a water filter all right, but it is not a "Reverse Osmosis System" and it costs less than $20.00. Typically these are installed on refrigerator supply lines for icemakers and water.
On top of this these are good for about a year and it had been on her sink for 6 years.
I kind of hated to tell her the truth, but I kind of relished it as well.
Well, I installed the new faucets and they look great. I even gave her all new quarter turn angle stops to replace the old gate stops and flexible supply lines to replace the solid compression supply lines.
I ran into her this morning and in her typical Pollyanna all is great in the world fashion she had to again thank me for the new faucets. She also let me know that the new faucets are doing their job so well that she doesn't think she will need to spend the $250.00 or so on a real Reverse Osmosis System or to buy a Brita Pitcher.
I kind of hate to tell her that a faucet isn't a filter and she is getting plain old Tucson tap water.
