Do you own an LED tv?

How are LED tv's good for gaming and sports compared to Plasma?

I have a 42" plasma, and looking at a 60" LED

I prefer plasma, just set the HDMI input to "game mode" and it looks good to me. LED's are sharp too and may be a bit brighter, but the contrasts and sharpness looks the same to me.

I've had the same TV for 5 years+ back when the first High Def 42" TVs cost $1600. Crazy. But yeah it is close to a window which is why I heard that Plasmas wouldn't be good. I would never go with an LCD due to the motion blur, but here's what I am looking at: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/VIZIO+-+E-Series+Razor+LED+-+60%26%2334%3B+Class+(60-1/25%26%2334%3B+Diag.)+-+LED+-+1080p+-+120Hz+-+Smart+-+HDTV/7172045.p?id=1218832134467&skuId=7172045

It's part of the technology, and one of those things that some people notice and some don't. When you really research it is impossible to find a perfect TV and both LED and plasma have pros/cons, you just have to decide which ones don't bother you.

Avsforum is a great resource like chuch said.

Also you can turn off the "soap opera effect" by turning down the refresh rate to 60Hz, on Samsungs this is sometimes called AutoMotionPlus, just turn it to off/normal or 60.

ACtually its not the refresh rate its the judder. Essentially what is happening is that movies are filmed at 24 frames per second so the TV inserts extra frams to smooth things out. By doing this it creates the soap opera effect. Soaps are filmed with "video tape" which offer a much higher FPS than the original movie film. Turn off judder to get the normal effect. That soap opera affect is so annoying. I have the Samsung 8500 series 51inch and this is what I had to do. Avengers 3D looked so cheesy. But you are right on other models it is called Auto Motion Plus.

I have 50 and 51 inch plasma's and I love them. The new Samsung 8500's are very bright and do not have the same problem that previous models had with bright rooms. But you are going to pay a nice chunk of change for the 8500's.
