Do you play Smith at RT or LG in 2022?

What do you think would be a better move for Dallas

RT is a harder position to come in and play, but he has been an OT his whole career so it may be easier to fix his technique without changing positions.

However, if his technique is still rough going into the season, it might cause fewer problems in pass protection on the inside.

If the plan is to have him be your LT in a few years, you may be moving him from LG to RT, to LT. Thats alot of position changes

LG, no question.

Cavanaugh ranted an raved prior to the 2016 NFL draft about Jared Goff as the best player in that draft at any position.
You called for Smith a few weeks ago. What made you think the Cowboys would pick him. The board was killing us for even bringing him up as possible pick.

He will play guard. He is not NFL tackle ready. He is a mauling run blocker. He was a redshirt freshman. He may not even be ready to start a guard.

Absolutely horrible pick in the 1st round. He had a 4th or 5th round grade. He might be pretty good one day but it is definitely a stretch.
Wrong!

All of the major draft media had him as either a 2nd or late 1st.

Lg forever.

LG this kid is so raw edges will cook him in space. Gotta put his big behind in a phone booth and let him get nasty.......pause

No, put him at LG and leave him there.

Why have a young, raw player practice at multiple positions including switching sides from where he played in college?

Also, they already have a RT. They don't have a LG.
I would agree but if he smart enough it doesn't hurt. Steele while an amazing story does not have the pedigree. If Steele stumbles in OTAs and Mini camp and Ball is not the answer it could not hurt but only if Connor has not progressed to point he could be considered competition.

Him going to LG is the smart move. His strength there and his nasty attitude is something we haven’t had in awhile at that position. Will hide a lot of his flaws too. He’s one of the youngest players in this draft..

LG with a slight chance to be Tyron Smith successor in 2-3 years.

Hes way too sloppy technique wise to protect the Edge.

His style fits Guard better anyway.

Steele and Ball will be the RT going forward.

Um no. Tennessee was taking him at 26. He wasn’t a 4th or 5th rounder
