Do you really expect this to be a good team?

I've got us at 9-7 this year, which is an improvement. I predicted the same for last year and we fell a game short.

I think we are improved enough to be playoff contenders with some bumbling and stumbling along the way.

9-7 for me. Romo will continue to improve but our redzone offense will struggle again. You don't win games kicking field goals.

Defense will improve, and there will be less "4th quarter collapses", but they are still a year away. I expect them to be average.

You can like whatever you want, but he's entitled to his thoughts. He's a Cowboys fan on a Cowboys forum. Some optimism can be expected.

To answer the OP 9-10 wins should be the expectation this year. I will adjust upwards or downwards after seeing this team in action.

How the hell do we not have a solid recieving core? We have Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, and Jason Witten? We added two stud corners in Brandon Carr and Morris Claibourne. Doesn't take a genious to realize that our secondary is much better now.

Why will our red zone offense continue to struggle? Another year of experience for Murray and an upgraded offensive line. I don't why they'll struggle.

We were average last season. This season we've significantly upgraded our roster so we'll definitely have a better record.

I think you should stop telling other fans how to feel about their team, they can be optimistic if they choose, get over it. You have your opinion and they have theirs on the outlook of the team.

I'd like to wait and actually see the team play first, but logic doesn't apply to many around here.

There is a difference between being optimistic and being a homer, that is my whole point.

Just because we acquired some new acquisitions on the secondary that looks good on paper does not mean we are automatically better.

Actually it does. Brandon Carr is a PROVEN stud corner. One of the best in the league. Morris Claibourne was a stud corner at LSU. All indications are that he'll be the same in the NFL. Stop being ignorant. The Cowboys are clearly a better football team than last season. If you can't see that than your ****ing blind.

I honestly don't give a **** what you think about my opinion. I've clearly stated why I'm optimistic about my Cowboys. You have yet to give an actual reason why the Cowboys will be average.

I predicted 8-8 last year and was right. I'll go 7-9 this year. We have a much tougher schedule. I doubt we'll have Miles & Dez for all 16 games. The OL is awful. The corners are better but how much is anyone's guess. The Cowboys have to also quit beating themselves in games. Until they do that, they won't really contend.

Do you really expect Claibourne to just walk in and be a stud corner his rookie season? How many rookie CBs come in and have an impact? Claibourne has had his ups and downs in his limited time at training camp. I fully expect him to struggle at times. It happens.

The fact is even if we have a significantly better team than last year it may not be reflected in the record.

We won 8 games last season against a extremely weak schedule. In doing so we managed one win all season against a team that finished with a winning record (week 2 @ SF ). Our next best win was home vs 7-9 Seattle.

This year the schedule gets much harder: two with the Giants, two w/Philly, home games vs the Steelers and Saints and road games @ the Ravens, Panthers, Falcons and Bengals.

Imo this team would be extremely fortunate to win 9
+ games; 7-8 is more realistic.

Exactly!! That in itself should give every team hope knowing it can and has happened.

I have question marks with the offensive line, and even less on the d-line (but they're there). But the most accurate answer I can give you is "yes".

I like to think I'm pretty objective, and when I look at the 2012 Dallas Cowboys, I see the ingredients for a very poor season. There are just far too many holes and unaddressed needs to think this team is going to compete for the playoffs. Both lines are more or less disasters at this point, the wide receivers are china dolls, and there's hardly any depth throughout the roster.

This is looking like a 6-10 kind of team to me and worse than the team I predicted would be 7-9 or 8-8 last year, which ended up being correct. I know that it's not a popular opinion, but what exactly do you see if you think this team will be better?

I am not I understand the logic of 6-10? just because of the OL? the OL if nothing is the same or better than last year. which other teams don't have OL problems, because from where I sit, there are about 6-8 teams that can legitimatley say they have a good OL. the defense is better. are you ready to throw the towel in?

with that said, its a different year. to me this is an 8-8 to 10-6 team

The 2 teams in the Superbowl last year had flaws. Patriots had no defense to speak of and the Giants don't have a secondary.

You guys gotta get the perfect team mentality out of your head.

It's all about the Quarterback. If you have a good QB your going to compete in this NFL.

We're not going to be some scrub team.

That's true. You don't have to be a great team. But I think you do have to be dominant on one side of the ball if the other side is mediocre. The Patriots had their offense, the Giants their defense.

I have serious doubts either side of the ball can carry the Cowboys this year. This is why I wanted an aggressive OL overhaul, because I think the offense could have done that with a legit line in front of Romo.

But your point is noted. I can't say this team is any worse than the Cardinals team that went to the Super Bowl a few years ago. Get in position, get hot at the right time, have a little luck. Stranger things have happened.
