Do you think our Defense will dictate the offensive play calling on a regular basis?

I was watching a show today and they were talking about the Cowboys. They said that even though we need to run the ball more, with our D, we may be playing catch up all the time, therefore here goes another year of pass, pass, pass. I don't know if I agree with this or not. Last year we were throwing the ball when we were ahead and there was no need to. I think the new OC is already showing a more balanced attack and is going to do everything possible to move the ball both running and throwing. Shannon Sharp was the one saying this and I won't say what show it was on because I hate to admit that I watch it..lol

I think that's accurate, we may want to run the ball more but I think we won't be able to do that, high scoring games, you can bet on that.

All I can say is if you haven't drafted your fantasy team for the season, you should take Romo. He has an offensive line that will give him all day, and a defense that will have him on the field all day.

yep. and if you need a hot waiver wire pickup in a pinch, just get a WR/RB/QB/TE facing the cowboys that week

You dont just automatically pass when youre losing. They may still be pass heavy, but if they are truly committed to running more, they'll stick with the run through at least the first half of games even if trailing.

Might I add, in our last victory as an organization we were trailing by 9 going into the 4th quarter. We started that quarter sticking with the run and whatdoyoukno, we came back and defeated the Washington Racists with a td pass.to the very RB that fueled the 4th qtr comeback win. The running game is not automatically a liability when trailing.

Yep, team will be behind or swapping scores a lot. That means more passing and more hits to the QB.

I think Green Bay proved last year that you want to keep your attack balanced no matter what.

Score the best way you can. And if you're balanced early and don't panic like Garrett and co have done (think Chicago), that's when you get into trouble.

I'm torn on this subject. It can go one of two ways:

1. Bad defense forces offense into shoot-outs which can lead to disarray.

2. Offense plays ball control winning time of possession. They will also have to have a high success rate of points per drive.

If the offense produces as we project, then that is less pressure on the defense. They can get sliced and diced but if they hold teams to more FG's than TD's, we have a chance.

We just need the offense to sustain long drives resulting in some kind of points and pray that the defense doesn't give it right back. A few stops here and there with a potent offense could be key.

I would rather not watch shoot-outs, we need to keep the defense off the field as much as possible......play ball control.

I think it's a distinct possibility, but if the offense sticks to its game plan (in a likelihood, keeping the defense off the feild) that would also force the other offense to play catch up at times.

Biggest key for the offense STICK TO THE GAME PLAN, don't become one dimensional...

Something that JG has never committed to.

The reality is that, with a defense so bad, we should run the ball more even if we are losing. That way, you minimize the other offense's possessions and one stop becomes a lot more valuable.

Good example of that was the Bears game last year. The defense wasn't playing well but the offense just could not string together any drives. A long one would have helped the TOP and taken some of the momentum away from the Bears' offense...but that never happened.

No doubt you fall too far behind it causes the offense to play catch up and in doing that you will end up passing more. Ideally I think Dallas would love to run the ball and control the clock but a lot of that depends on the defense playing good ball. All the teams I see that are ball controlling run oriented like Seattle and can do so because their defense plays great ball and they are not playing from behind

We'll be playing some very tough teams this season, especially early-on for the first five games or so. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we were forced to pass more than we'd like to but of course, it's not written in stone. Our revamped OL should be able to acquit itself admirably once they manage to jell and be consistent. Problem is, I doubt it'll happen right from the get-go. We will struggle a bit early-on in the season, imo and gradually improve our ground game as the season wears on. Hopefully, we'll stay healthy.
