Do you want Free at LT or RT?

We know Free can play LT and RT.

Let's say for example, that Derek Sherrod drops to the early 2nd round and Dallas is on the clock. Sherrod, at that point, is Dallas' highest rated player and they select him. Sherrod is more suited for the left side, and we know your RT has to be a better run-blocker, and needs to have a nasty streak, BOTH of which Free DOES have.

What do you guys think about this? Free was just as good if not better at RT and if we draft a finesse, athletic tackle who is more suited for the left side, should we move Free back to RT? Discuss.

If it ain't broke, why try to fix it. He played very well for his first season. Let's see what he will do next year. Why bring in an unknown factor and risk it?

For next season I'm happy to let Free man the LT position.

Let's see who we get to play OT in the Draft (unless we go the FA route).

Depends on whose playing on the other side. If they draft Tyron Smith it wont be ultimately for RT. If they draft D Line and sign a vet, Free prolly stays LT.

Tyron Smith is immediately a beast at RT if we plug him in for his rookie year. If Doug Free comes into his own even more than he did this season at LT, who says we can't have that combination for the next ten years?

Free isn't going to move. He's going to be paid as a LT and will play there for ten years.

That would be a nice combo, Free and Smith.

Now we just need to sort out the interior of the OL. :D

Ideally, you want free playing RT. While we try to get a stud LT.

I agree with most of the comments here. I guess Tyron Smith not participating in the combine helps us, in terms of him being available with our early 2nd round pick?

No, lets fix it.

I say we move Ratliff to LT, Free to RT and draft a 350lb RT to play NT.

He's working out at this Pro Day in about 1 month.

He just had has knee scoped about 8 weeks ago, so he wasn't able to participate in the running and other drills (because his knee started to swell).

By the way, this isn't new information. Teams knew he had his knee scoped.

He's not going to slip to the 2nd round unless there is a serious injury, drugs, etc.

So who is going to start the rumor and make sure that it gets into the right hands of each NFL team personnel so this could happen.:laugh2:

Why would we ideally want Free at RT?

All evidence points to the fact that Free is a more natural LT. He was arguably our best lineman last year. All the coaches and scouts claim that he is a more natural LT.

Why does everyone insist that Free is an ideal RT? I don't get it.

i said it earlier and i'll say it again, get over this whole LT v RT thing. Its a pass happy league. Give me 2 guys who can pass protect. That way it isnt as easy for opposing Dcoords to get their pass rusher on a weak RT pass protector.

Here's my problem with Smith. If you don't think he is going to be your left tackle then why draft that player at #9? I think you can find a good RT in the 2nd or 3rd. I guess I just don't like spending high picks on Right Tackle Only's.

you pay Free his money which by the way is Jerry money

and whom ever you draft

have the best OT playing at LT

let them fight it in camp

at least then you got two good OT's that can play either side

Not one rookie in this draft can beat out Free at LT he played that well last year is crazy to think otherwise. hell free was one of the better LT last year in the league.
