Do you want to try to be great or just be good?

Unless Quinn is hired by someone else I think it's a rinse repeat and all three come back. Honestly who cares about 3 12-5 seasons in a row when you can't even win a playoff game and get embarrassed doing so? Being a Cowboy fan is just plain frustrating and embarrassing anymore (Que all the homers telling me to leave and not be a fan anymore).

That's the question Jerry needs to ask himself.

Jerry takes a lot of crap, and some of it's justified. But even with him as GM and McClay there helping, they tend to put together some talented teams, at least talented enough to win. Other than a random year or there, they are rarely awful and rarely awful for a long stretch. They are good. Have not been great since the mid 90s.

Now we can keep McCarthy and Dak and probably be good again next year. Certainly not a SB contender but likely good enough to get a WC spot and depending on what Philly does, maybe contend for another divisional title. If that's what Jerry is OK with, then fine.

But to be great, you need to bite the bullet and pull the plug on both Dak and McCarthy. You have to be willing to eat a year or two of mediocrity to be great.

I don't think Jerry is willing to do that. I think Jerry believes that just being good is good enough and that eventually luck will kick in and we'll make a run. Problem is, he's had no luck for nearly 3 decades.
It never ceases to amaze me how many NFL GM’s frequent this board. Couch potatoes who have ALL the answers.

I was fine with it but like others have pointed out....Jerry probably doesn't feel or want to rebuild or tear it down. He wants to retool.

But honestly if its about the future the correct moves is to trade Parsons, Lamb and Dak. I'd also trade Zack Martin and Tyron. I'd trade anyone on this team with value over 30.

This probably won't work....we may get worse. Be a perennial 8 win team. But its necessary to just start over. I mean i'd recommend doing it without Jerry but that's not possible.

Yeah i'm for his moves but pretending like those moves mean we will be "great" is insane lol. People think this thing can't get worse. Oh it can. You can go back to 9-8 years....and no matter what anyone says that's worse than what we have now.

If Jerry really wanted to win the big one, we don't draft players such as Sam Williams, Schooner, Jaylon, LVE. Those guys aren't what it takes to make a super bowl run.

Hey, we got Lamb and Parsons!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes we do, great pieces. But those great pieces are nullified if you get owned at the LOS.
I would add one more to this - if Jerry really wanted to win a super bowl, he takes the steps to improve the front office, starting with removing himself from the mix. His refusal to make this one change proves to me he isn't really interested in winning that badly.

Your dumb *** has put your faith in Jerry Jones every single year and all he's given you is one of the worst 25+ year runs in NFL history for a franchise. If Detroit wins this weekend, the Cowboys will be left with the Commanders with the longest active streak of not playing in a NFCCG.

That's embarrassing.

You know what else is funny? You've posted in the past that Jerry is a problem. But when someone else says it, you get all defensive about Jerry and the Cowboys. You must be bi-polar.

Who said we will be great? The point is you can't keeping doing it the way Jerry is doing it and expect to be great at this point. It's not working. How much evidence do you guys need?

This thing needs to be blown up. And if Jerry did do that, I actually expect it would get worse for a year or two. That's what happens when you blow something. I literally said in the post you have to eat a couple years of mediocrity in order to get better

Immediately after the game I was all in on letting Quinn walk but keeping MM. Now after a couple of days, I’m lukewarm on keeping MM. How he could let Quinn go into that game with THAT defensive game plan is bizarre. Why he thought that the running game would be ok with Pollard and some no names is unacceptable. At the same time, if they clean house with the coaches, it’s going to take at least a year or 2 for the players to adjust to new coaches and schemes. Couch potatoes just think it’s plug and play like Madden.

Except in my post to start this thread, I literally said you have to be willing to eat a couple years of mediocrity to try to get better. Nowhere did I say anything about just plug and play.

He is the problem. It all starts at the top. I’ve never wavered from that. But he’s the owner. He aint going anywhere so I suggest you go root for another team. Also, watch it with the childish name calling. The mods are watching.

I don't disagree if there's a different head here. But if Jerry is the head......nothing will change. We've literally witnessed it for 30 years. These are not the same plays from 10 years ago. Or 20 years ago...or 30 years ago. We've literally seen this team with new players commit the same mistakes that the players before them did. Now i'm for starting over....because I think it will work? No. Simply because i'm tired of watching this product. But make no mistake......this is not a badly built team. This team isn't far off. But it will never get where it needs to go as long as Jerry is running things. Its been 30 years. I can't blame Micah for 28 years ago. When he wasn't born. I can't blame Dak for 10 years ago when he was at Mississippi state....I can't blame Lamb....none of these guys.

But I don't say that to bring this team back. My fandom needs a reboot. Just like my fandom needed a reboot to get away from the Witten, Ware and Romo years. Its been 8 years. I need another one. But make no mistake it won't work and it will fail. Because players change and coaches go but Jerry remains.

You can't insult Rocky. But he can insult you.

You can't criticize Jerry and say he's failed. But Rocky can criticize Jerry and say he's failed.

Makes sense.
