Does a Cowboy Make the NFL Mount Rushmore?

Out of the four faces of the NFL Mount Rushmore does a Cowboy Make the cut? If so which one?

My NFL Mount Rushmore
Brady
Rice
Sanders
LT
First of all the problem with your Mount Rushmore is I don't know how long football has been around but the NFL has been around since what 1960 let's start at 1960 you know how many great players are played since 1960 so let's take your Mount Rushmore and have one for every position that's the only way this works are you serious you're trying to pick the 5 best players and history that's started before nineteen sixty but we'll just stay in nineteen sixty to now..

You want us to pick five players out of 100s that can go up there?. Don't look for some lists like nfl's top 100 all time it's very difficult to split some of the wide receivers and running backs and quarterbacks you can't just have five players you can't it doesn't make any sense so when we make these insane list we need to break the list down by position.

That way we can come up with about 100 names that belong in the all time greats like the greatest of greats that is how they usually get the Hall of Fame built...

And I'm not sure what Lt you mean you talk about Lawrence Taylor or Ladamian Tomlinson?

Yeah I can't play this game because I don't even know if Bradys the number one guy he does have all the rings and the proof that he should be on this list but there are other quarterbacks that were pretty similar as far as actual skill I mean you're talking about team accomplishments and he deserves all the flowers he gets but I've seen lots of quarterbacks including right now that are playing like Patrick Mahomes he's not done yet and then you have guys like for sure growing up I hated him but joe Montana?

case in point, Super Bowl rings have to count coaching staffs and the rest of the roster around the quarterback but people somehow dismissed Terry Ratchel but he's got four rings how could you take him off mount Rushmore with four rings that's why you have to take the top 5 it's also why you can dismiss Eli Manning for somehow being on this list because very few quarterbacks have multiple Super Bowls to their name but it was a team concept when it came to Eli Manning so you have to kind of put them all in that same category.. So I think to be fair you need to get a top 5 at every position so at Mount Rushmore for every position it's the only way we can sort it out given how many players have come through since 1960...

I mean when you Google top 5 running backs or top five wide receivers and they list those guys it's debatable I can find ways to take some of them off the list that's why you can't have only five total players on your Mount Rushmore..

  • Tom Brady: 7.
  • T-2. Joe Montana: 4.
  • T-2. Terry Bradshaw: 4.
  • T-4. Patrick Mahomes: 3.
  • T-4. Troy Aikman: 3.
  • T-6. Eli Manning: 2.
  • T-6. Peyton Manning: 2.
  • T-6. Ben Roethlisberger: 2.

Okay, but you're suggesting that because he played well against him that Reggie's entire career would be altered? lol
No, kinda like an all time great in choose your sport who always had that one nemesis that he just didn't quite look the same when he played that particular guy.
That's all.

George Halas
Vince Lombardi
Those two belong
after that, wow what an argument you can get.

Which Sanders and which LT? I assume you mean Barry Sanders and Lawrence Taylor. Some people still call Ladanien Thomlison, LT. Barry is the third best RB so he's not even on my list.

Saying Emmitt is the best RB ever is like saying Witten is the best TE ever.

Barry is the GOAT RB.

And you're saying Lawrence Taylor, the greatest defensive player of all time, doesn't belong on it? What? You shouldn't be allowed to talk football if you believe that.
This is a horrendous take on Emmitt for a Cowboys fan. He was the driving force behind the Super Bowl wins.

George Halas was a player coach and owner; the single person most responsible for the NFL being created

Vince Lombardi for obvious reasons though modern times you have to think about BB

Then you should have two players, one offensive and one defensive.
Brady for the offensive player is fairly logical but still an argument
after that its kind of tough. Modern people might say Lawrence Taylor and others might say Reggie White
Older ones would talk about Dick Butkus and Deacon Jones and our own Bob Lilly and others farther back.

Until he got hurt....probably, damn shame....funny thing is he's a very low key, humble and just plain, nice guy. Big heart, doing good things to help kids. Never met Larry, wish I had.
Such a shame that never determined the cause of death. That I know of anyways…

It always bothers me that Jerry Rice is universally accepted as the best all-time at his position and Emmitt Smith is not. Rice wasn't the fastest, DID NOT have the best hands or leaping ability and wasn't the best RAC guy. What he is.....the all-time leader in catches, yards and TDs by good margins. He was also a relentless warrior in big games. Meanwhile, Emmitt was the all-time leader in carries, yards and TDs by a good margin. He possessed no incredible physical gift but he was also a relentless warrior in the biggest games. Somehow Rice was a god and Emmitt is an asterisk. BTW....both guys had Hall of Fame supporting casts.

I love my Cowboys, but no, There are no Cowboys for Mount Rushmore, not if only 4.
Another guy who can have the Dallas Cowboys as his best team but still recognize and appreciate the greatness of other players?
On other teams even?

Cheers to you my good friend and beware if you don't receive a bias based personal insult because you can't see a Cowboys name to be included in the top 4 players to have ever played the game.
Nor do I.
And I love my Cowboys too.

A lot of these “Mount Rushmore” memes we are seeing now should be labeled 21st Century because anything before that is not even on their radar.

Popularity contest.

RBs don't win Super Bowls.

If they did Barry would have all of em.
Dallas was 0-2 without Emmitt. Once back he lead the league in rushing, won the mvp, won the Super Bowl MVP and led the team to a Supebowl win. Without Emmit, they don’t win any of the 3-4 years. And don’t get me wrong. Sanders was beyond great.
